DFW Film Critics Association Named No Country 2007 Best Film

It was no longer a surprise that "No Country for Old Men" is the movie critics' favorite. After being awarded four kudos by the SEFCA, the movie written by the Coen brothers once again received three prizes from Critics on Monday, December 17.

This time, "No Country" was hailed as the 2007 Best Picture by the Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association. Its directors, Joel and Ethan Coen, and particular cast member, Javier Bardem, each won Best Director and Best Supporting Actors awards.

Horror Pic The Orphanage Tops 2008 Goya Awards Nominations

Set to stand out in critical recognition, ghost tale "The Orphanage" has been revealed to be the top nominee of the Spanish Film Academy's 2008 Goya Awards, the Spanish equivalent to Academy Awards.

The Spain's submission for the foreign-language film slot at the 80th Oscar, pic remarkably scoops up a total fourteen nods, including Best Picture (Mejor pelicula) and Best New Director (Mejor director novel) for Juan Antonio Bayona.

John Travolta Quits Dallas Movie, Replaced by Ben Stiller?

The only remaining cast member of "Dallas" seems to have also taken his leave from the project, if tidbit by New York Post's Page Six proves legit.

The gossip column claimed that John Travolta is no longer attached to the movie after being promoted as its anchor for more than two years. According to the insiders telling Page Six, the "Grease" star reportedly has been dropped from his role as J.R. Ewing and had the part given to Ben Stiller instead.

SEFCA Hailed No Country Best Picture of 2007

"No Country for Old Men" once more proved that it is one of Film Critics' 2007 favorite movies as it became huge awards winner. On Monday, December 17, the adventure drama movie has been announced by the Southeastern Film Critics Association to be the four kudos winner.

It took the number one spot in the category of Best Picture beating out another nine other top ten films, including the top five movies "There Will Be Blood", "Atonement", "Juno" and "Michael Clayton". Additionally, the top ten movie list was made by the panel of over 40 film journalists representing the Southeastern's print media of USA.

Teaser Trailer for Will Smith-Starrer Hancock Flies Online

Possibly taking advantage from the commercial success of Will Smith's recently-released vehicle "I Am Legend", Columbia Pictures has launched online a teaser trailer for its upcoming flick "Hancock", which the actor is also toplining.

Coming in at just a little over one and a half minutes, the teaser does insert some shots that seemingly indicate the movie to be rather a comedy than action feature. In the meantime, it also includes footage which boasts special effects used in the movie as the titular character shows off his super power.

Film Honorees Named at the 12th Satellite Awards

Finally picking up the best out of a slew of lauded titles and names, the International Press Academy (IPA) listed out on Sunday evening (Dec. 16) recipients of this year's Satellite Awards, giving away most honors to teen pregnancy drama "Juno."

The Fox Searchlight release gloriously scooped up three major kudos in total, notably that of the Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical. Two others went to Ellen Page as the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical and Diablo Cody as the recipient of best original screenplay.

Bryan Singer's Valkyrie Moved to October 3, 2008 Release Date

More film titles have undergone changes in their release dates lately and Bryan Singer-directed "Valkyrie" is apparently the latest one to join the lineup.

United Artists as the studio developing the project turned out to have taken decision to push back the release date for the WWII thriller, which Tom Cruise is toplining. Originally scheduled to open on June 27, 2008, pic will come up on October 3, 2008 instead, facing other upcoming titles like Guy Ritchie's "RocknRolla" and Michael Cera-starrer "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" on the day.

Three More for Reese Witherspoon-Starrer Four Christmases

Submitting more names into the burgeoning cast, filmmakers of "Four Christmases" have signed in three notable figures of Tim McGraw, Dwight Yoakam, and Jon Favreau to all take parts in the romantic comedy, toplined by Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that McGraw and Favreau will portray two siblings names Denver and Dallas, respectively, who take delights in tormenting their brother Brad, played by Vaughn, during the holidays. Yoakam, in the meantime, is billed as Pastor Phil, who persuades Brad and his new wife Kate (Witherspoon) to act in his church's nativity play.

The first batch of photos from the Mexico City set of "Dragonball Evolution" has made way to come up online, capturing the images of Justin Chatwin, who has been billed to play leading character Goku in the project.

Kudos appear to keep flowing for "No Country for Old Men", and the most recent ones have come from the Chicago Film Critics Association. Coming to the 20th celebration of its CFCA Awards, the organization has deemed the crime drama thriller the big winner of the event by giving the flick four prizes altogether.

The Miramax Films release gloriously landed top honor of Best Picture while scoring its helming duo, brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, both the Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay trophies. Another of Best Supporting Actor went to Javier Bardem for his acclaimed portrayal of Anton Chigurh in the movie.

The official first full-length trailer for highly-anticipated flick "The Dark Knight" finally was brought online by Warner Bros. Pictures after its recent leak on the net following the theatrical debut of "I Am Legend" in conventional theaters nationwide.

In contrast, however, there has also come up a bootlegged version of the movie's first six-minute preview, which previously was showcased in New York. It appeared that the clip was from that originally shown in an IMAX theater screening "Legend" as well.

'Knocked Up' Made It Into AFI Top Ten 2007 Best Film

"Knocked Up" was chosen as one of the 10 Best Films of 2007 as the American Film Institute announced their lists of top 10 outstanding motion pictures and TV programs of 2007. The romantic comedy movie starring Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl was listed alongside other film critics' favorite movies, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood".

Apart from those four films, drama thriller movies, like "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" and "Michael Clayton", and drama comedy movies "The Savages" and "Juno" were also voted to be in the list. Emmy Rossum, the actress of "Poseidon", "Mystic River" and "The Day After Tomorrow", has come to agreement with 20th Century Fox to star in their new movie. According to Variety, the "Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera" star has signed to join the cast of "Dragonball Evolution" as Bulma, a scientist and inventor whose father's Dragon Ball is stolen by the villain, Piccolo.

Further, more cast members have also been signed for the Japanese manga adaptation. In the first place, Eriko Tamura, the popular Japanese actress who depicted Yaeko in popular TV series "Heroes", will play the character of Mai. Celebrating the premiere of "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" in New York, some starry cast members from the upcoming action adventure cheerfully got together once again to brighten the occasion, held on Thursday, October 13, 2007 at the city's famous Ziegfeld Theater.

Spotted to attend the glittering event were male lead Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight, Justin Bartha, Ed Harris, Ty Burrell, and Diane Kruger, who opted to wear a red flowing dress for the occasion. Helmer Jon Turteltaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer also showed up, both flashing wide smiles as photographers' camera captured their images.
