Louis C.K. Waxes Philosophical About Smartphones on 'CONAN'

September 21, 2013 06:27:11 GMT

What could have simply been a retelling by Emmy Award-winning actor/comedian Louis C.K. on "CONAN" about his resistance to let his daughters have their own smartphones became a philosophical platform for the 46-year-old writer/producer/director. Saying he's "not there to make them happy" but to "raise the grown-ups that they're going to be," he expressed concern about what smartphones were doing to the kids of this generation.

"I think these things are toxic, especially for kids. They don't look at people when they talk to them and they don't build empathy," said the FX comedy series "Louie" creator. And just when viewers thought C.K.'s concern was only for the young ones, he went on to point out that adults also had a problem with their mobile devices, saying they were overusing their phones.

Katy Perry's 'Roar' to Be Played Less on Upcoming Bengals Games

September 21, 2013 05:53:57 GMT

When the Cincinnati Bengals chose to play Katy Perry's new single "Roar" as a pre-game, in-game and post-game song at Paul Brown Stadium last Monday, September 16, they thought it was a great idea since it had the words "roar" and "champion" in it, not to mention a tiger in its music video. But apparently fans of the team had a different opinion altogether when they heard the pop song almost throughout the entire game.

After protest from Bengals fans surfaced in social networking sites, with some openly protesting even before the match ended, the Bengals announced on Friday, September 20, that Perry's "Roar" wouldn't be featured as heavily as it was played last Monday. Even a win by the Bengals over the Pittsburgh Steelers that night could not drown out the opposition towards the recent Billboard chart-topping single being the team's new anthem.
