Cher Turns Down Olympics Gig in Russia Over Anti-Gay Law

After actor Wentworth Miller declined an invitation to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival to protest Russia's legal discrimination against gay people, iconic diva Cher become the latest celebrity to openly turn down a chance to fly to the Eurasian country over its anti-gay legislation. The 67-year-old singer revealed she had been asked to open the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi but she "immediately said no."

"I want to know why all of this gay hate just exploded over there," said the "Woman's World" singer to her friend who proposed the gig to her. "He said the Russian people don't feel the way the government does." But until the anti-gay law there is lifted, Cher, who is a known gay icon, an advocate for the LGBT community, and mother to transgender son, Chaz, won't be going there anytime at all.

"Castle" star Nathan Fillion skipped work for the second time in two months. On Friday, September 13, the actor called in sick, leading to speculation around the set about a possible new work schedule dust-up.

Sources close to the production have now explained the situation, saying that Fillion had a legitimate reason to skip work that day. The "Firefly" alum reportedly has chronic back problems and was seeing a chiropractor for it.

Isaiah Washington 'Lost Everything' After Gay Slur Incident

"Grey's Anatomy" actor Isaiah Washington, who was fired from the series after making a gay slur during an altercation with co-star and another at 2007 Golden Globe Awards backstage, reveals in an interview with Huffington Post that he "lost everything" after the incident. Washington says that following the incident people in Hollywood did not want to "touch" him and he experienced financial difficulties as the result.

"After the incident at the Golden Globes, everything just fell apart. I lost everything. I couldn't afford to have an agent... I couldn't afford to have a publicist... I couldn't afford to continue," he says. However, he learned to be a better person because of the incident. "I became a better husband, a better father and a better artist," Washington claims.

Following her arrest in May for spraying her teenage son with a hose to get him to go to bed, singer-actress Pia Zadora has been ordered by a Las Vegas judge on Thursday, September 12 to undergo alcohol and impulse control counseling or else, face 30 days in jail. The 59-year-old former child actress was charged with domestic abuse and coercion after the hose-spraying incident involving her 16-year-old son.

The charges on Zadora were filed after police reports revealed that the "Butterfly" star turned a watering hose on her son to get him to go to bed so she herself could get some rest. When her son called the police after the hose-down, she allegedly ripped the phone from his hands thinking he was calling the cops just to avoid his bedtime.

Officials at WDTN, an Ohio TV station where Julie Chen worked in 1990s, have apologized for racism she experienced while working there. Chen, who recently claimed that she had underwent plastic surgery to make her eyes more "western," was told by her former boss that she would not be able to be a news anchor at the station because of her physical features.

"We are sorry to hear about what happened to CBS' Julie Chen in 1995 when she was a reporter at WDTN-TV," WDTN and WBDT president and general manager Joe Abouzeid said in a statement, as quoted by Dayton Daily News. "The station was under different management and ownership during that time. At WDTN and WBDT, we don't tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind."

MacAteer's efforts inadvertently give rise to the Irish mob, as he finds himself bending the laws he is governed by.

Lindsay Lohan's Mother Dina Arrested for Drunk Driving

It's another trouble for the Lohans. While Lindsay Lohan managed to lay low since her release from rehab in late July this year, her mom Dina Lohan couldn't do the same. She was arrested late Thursday, September 12 in Long Island, New York for drunk driving.

Dina was pulled over at 11 P.M. by the state troopers for allegedly going 77 mph in a 55-mph zone on the Northern State Parkway in Oyster Bay town. The 50-year-old mother was speeding in a white BMW westbound on the Northern near Route 135 when the incident happened.
