Lorde Announces New North American Tour Dates

Lorde has announced more dates for her upcoming North American tour this fall. In order to promote her upcoming "Pure Heroine" album, the New Zealand singer will hit the stage at Los Angeles' Fonda Theater on September 24.

She will then visit Los Angeles' Belasco Theater before traveling to other cities Like San Fransisco, Seattle and Toronto. The new dates also include two shows on two consecutive nights at New York City's Webster Hall. Until The Ribbon Breaks will support the 16-year-old artist on all dates.

After new photos from the set of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" sparked rumors that the show had a Trayvon Martin-inspired episode, executive producer Warren Leight confirms the speculation. In fact, the long-running crime drama series combines the much-talked about shooting case and another headline-grabbing issue, the Paula Deen scandal, in one episode.

"[Jeffrey] Tambor is a defense attorney representing a very high-profile celebrity woman chef who thought she was being pursued by a rapist and turned around it was a teenager. And she shot him," Leight tells Entertainment Weekly of the plotline. "There's a lot of stop and frisk elements to that as well."

Adaptation of Fan-Favorite Novel 'The Book Thief' Debuts First Trailer

Twentieth Century Fox has released first trailer for "The Book Thief", the adaptation of Markus Zusak's 2006 bestseller. With its heartwarming story and the star power lent by Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, the WWII drama certainly looks promising. As the trailer suggests, there is also a strong performance from newcomer Sophie Nelisse that surely makes the film even worth anticipating.

Though the novel is narrated by Death, it is Liesel Meminger (Nelisse) who tells her own story in the movie. "I don't have a family, or even a place to call a home," says Nelisse's character, introducing herself as the video opens. "I never understood the meaning of the word 'hope,' but I'm about to meet the people who will change all that."

Katt Williams Gives $1,000 to Wheelchair-Bound Fan

Comedian Katt Williams has given a fan $1,000 after learning that the wheelchair-bound woman needs kidney transplant. According to a TMZ report, a woman was seen crying after Williams' show in Boston on Sunday, August 18. Security guards approached her to check her condition.

The woman told them that she was crying "tears of joy" because it was the first time she could laugh after receiving bad diagnosis from her doctor. The security team later took the woman backstage to see Williams.

Drake Unleashes 'Nothing Was the Same' Album Covers

Drake has unveiled the official artworks for his upcoming album, "Nothing Was the Same". "New Album Date...NOTHING WAS THE SAME SEPTEMBER 24th," he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, August 21, and attached a link to his website.

There, fans can find two pictures of Drake. While the first picture sees him as an Afro-haired little boy, the other one features the Canadian rapper as a grown-up. Both pictures have the same sky blue background.

Justin Timberlake Drops Feature on Juicy J's 'The Woods'

It's been awhile since pop/dance superstar Justin Timberlake and Taylor Gang Records rapper Juicy J have recorded a song together, the tune being the "Chop Me Up" track on JT's 2006 album "FutureSex/LoveSounds". They now reunite on Juicy J's forthcoming third solo album "Stay Trippy" track "The Woods", produced by Timbaland who also worked on their last team-up.

"This is a hard special record, both from the same hometown...we did music back in the day and now we're doing again years later," said Juicy J about their new duet. In it, the "Suit & Tie" singer handles the vocals for the hook to go with the rap verses of the MC where he talks about how he would like to treat his special someone.

Randy Jackson May Replace Jimmy Iovine as 'American Idol' Mentor

Randy Jackson may not be leaving "American Idol" after all. The former judge on the veteran singing competition is said to replace Jimmy Iovine, who reportedly won't return to the show after three years serving as in-house mentor.

Iovine joined the FOX reality series in season 10. Many of the show's finalists were signed to his label Interscope Geffen A&M after the competition wrapped up its season. Jackson himself has worked with artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and NSYNC, and has been the vice president of artists and repertoire (A&R) at Columbia Records.

"Today" show's anchor Jenna Wolfe and her partner NBC News foreign correspondent Stephanie Gosk have welcomed a baby girl. Wolfe gave birth to the couple's bundle of joy on August 21 at 7:31 P.M., according to the news site. The baby arrived weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

Wolfe and Gosk named their daughter Harper Estelle Wolfeld Gosk. Gosk shared a first picture of the baby girl on her Twitter, writing, "We couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the great messages." The picture shows Wolfe in her hospital bed, kissing her newborn baby on the head.

Haun's fellow Songwriter of the Year nominee Matt Redman bags the second most number of nominations with nine, tied with Artist of the Year contender Chris Tomlin. J. Cole Will Reshoot the Music Video for 'Crooked Smile'

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer until J. Cole drops the music video for "Crooked Smile". In a recent interview with Miss Info, the 28-year-old rapper said that he decided to reshoot the whole music video as he was unhappy with the first version.

"We have to re-shoot it," Cole told the site. "It came out nice but it just didn't come out exactly how I wanted. It's such an important song so I want the visual to match. If this was my first video then I would have panicked. We had to re-shoot 'Work Out' too."

"I keep working a spinoff angle. The spinoff is me and Pete, 'The Odd Couple' in L.A. but they're both dirty," he told E! News at the Television Academy Performers Peer Group Reception. "Two Felixes," he dished on the "Odd Couple"-esque drama.

Now, a new report from Latino Review claims that Marvel and director James Gunn have secretly made an official offer to one big star who is a frequent collaborator of Jennifer Lawrence.

The site names Bradley Cooper as the aforementioned star that is reportedly approached to take on the said role. The Oscar-nominated actor, who starred in "The Hangover" and its two follow-ups, is said to have neither accepted nor rejected it yet. If the report is true and Cooper is on board, he will join the movie's already starry cast ensemble.

Jazz Legend Marian McPartland Dies at Age 95 From Natural Causes

English-born jazz pianist and National Public Radio (NPR)'s show "Piano Jazz" host Marian McPartland passed away on Tuesday evening, August 20, from natural causes at the ripe old age of 95. The jazz legend died in her Port Washington home in Long Island in New York, where she took a resident job at the Embers Club back in the 1950s and enjoyed long residencies well into the 70s and 80s.

Seeing no reason to retire, she was still hosting "Piano Jazz" until the year 2011. She took on the show, where she would play the keyboard with guest performers, more than three decades past back in 1978. It became one of the longest-running jazz programs on radio and the longest-running cultural program on NPR during its run.

Director's Cut of Nirvana's 'Heart Shaped Box' Video Debuts Online

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, the surviving members of Nirvana are releasing a re-issue of the band's final studio album "In Utero", and they are kicking off the festivities by unveiling a director's cut of their 1993 music video "Heart Shaped Box" by Anton Corbijn. Although the clip already appears on Corbijn's Director's Series DVD, this marks the first time it is being made available online.

What Corbijn has done with the original was not just to show more of the woman in the muscle suit with the angel wings and the girl in the white KKK robe hanging from a tree, but also offered a creepier, more eerie version. And of course, fans get to see the late frontman Kurt Cobain again, rolling around in those blooming poppy fields.

Kanye West Sued by Injured Paparazzo Over LAX Camera Scuffle

Daniel Ramos, a photographer who was involved in a camera scuffle with Kanye West at LAX in July, has filed an assault and battery lawsuit against the "Black Skinhead" rapper. Accompanied by his attorney Gloria Allred, Ramos spoke to reporters in a press conference on Wednesday, August 21.

During the press conference, Ramos claimed that West's action caused injury to his leg. He apparently was forced to use crutches for two weeks following the incident and is using cane. "He's still in pain," Allred added, as quoted by Wenn.

Sylvester Stallone May Reprise Rambo on TV Adaptation

More than thirty years since the first film was released, "Rambo" is poised to get a TV treatment. Entertainment One has teamed up with Avi Lerner's Nu Image to develop and produce a TV series based on the action movies starring Sylvester Stallone.

Sly is currently in talks to get involved in the project on a "creative level" and to potentially reprise his role as the title character. Lerner states, "I'm excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy."

'Pompeii' Teaser Trailer: Kit Harington as Deadly and Sexy Gladiator

Kit Harington shows up in the teaser trailer for "Pompeii", in which he stars as Milo, a slave turned invincible gladiator who must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his love from a corrupt Roman Senator. With the outfit that shows his tight, toned abs, the "Game of Thrones" actor looks even more manly with his "ready to fight" pose.

Such visual is apparently what is pictured in the first image of the film, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. To Entertainment Weekly which unveiled the said pic the day before the teaser is released, Harington explains what is going on with his character at that time, "This is the first scene you see me in. It's set in London, in fact, and it's a scene where my character is a gladiator fighting in an arena."

Dr. Phil McGraw, who recently landed in hot water because of a controversial question about drunk sex he wrote on Twitter, has apologized for offending people with the Twitter post. Senior vice president/publicity for CBS, Stacey Luchs, explains in a statement to USA Today that the tweet was written to "invoke discussion" with his followers.

"This tweet was intended to invoke discussion leading into a very serious show topic based upon a recent news story, hence the #teensaccused label," Luchs said. "It was a poll question, not a statement or a joke... This was a research post in preparation for a show, not a personal post and Dr. Phil deleted it the second he saw it."

DMX Arrested Again in South Carolina, Charged With Marijuana Possession

Following his arrest late last month in South Carolina under suspicions of driving under the influence and driving without a license, hip-hop artist and actor DMX was again apprehended by police late Tuesday, August 20 in his home state. The 42-year-old rapper's outstanding warrant stemming from this recent case was one of the grounds for the police to take him into custody, his third time to make a visit to jail this year.

The arrest was made after the truck that he was riding was stopped by authorities in the city of Greer for making an illegal U-turn and the police realized that he had a warrant out for driving under suspension. They also found marijuana in the vehicle, for which he and the truck's driver Anita Shalawn Rhodes were both charged with simple possession.

Marion Cotillard to Replace Natalie Portman as Lady 'Macbeth'

As it turns out, Natalie Portman is no longer attached to be the female lead in "Macbeth". The Hollywood Reporter learns that the Nina Sayers of "Black Swan" has been replaced by another Oscar winner Marion Cotillard in the feature version of the William Shakespeare tragedy from StudioCanal and Film4.

French beauty Cotillard will then be paired with Michael Fassbender, who was cast in late April. Directed by Justin Kurzel, the adaptation is set in the 11th century and centers on a ruthlessly ambitious Scottish lord named Macbeth, who seizes the throne with the help of his scheming wife and three witches.

Universal Ranks First as Studio With Most LGBT-Inclusive Movies in GLAAD's Film Report

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has released its first annual Studio Responsibility Index report regarding LGBT characters in films released by 6 major motion picture studios during the 2012 calendar year. Universal Pictures tops the list with 25% of its 16 releases featuring characters representing LGBT community. 20th Century Fox, meanwhile, gets failing grades with 0%.

"As a major influence in American culture and one of our nation's largest media exports abroad, the lack of LGBT characters in big-budget films needs to change," says Wilson Cruz, GLAAD spokesperson. The report also finds that the said characters were apparently "no more than cameos or minor roles." Cruz adds, "Moviegoers should be able to see LGBT people as integral players in the stories told by leading Hollywood studios."

David Cassidy Arrested for DUI Again in New York

David Cassidy faces another drunk driving charge. The former teen idol was arrested in upstate New York and taken to jail on Wednesday, August 21 after he was pulled over for driving with his high-beams on when he wasn't supposed to.

Police officer Tom Jones then smelled alcohol on the actor/singer's breath and administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. According to TMZ which obtains his mugshot, Cassidy blew a .10 in the breathalyzer device, while the legal blood alcohol limit is .08.

Luke Bryan Crashes Billboard 200 With 'Crash My Party'

Country star Luke Bryan scores his second No. 1 album on Billboard 200 with his "Crash My Party". According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album landed at the chart's top spot after selling nearly 528,000 in its first week.

That also marks the biggest sales week by a male country musician in almost nine years. The record was previously held by Tim McGraw, whose 2004 album "Live Like You Were Dying" opened with 766,000.

Unlike WWE star Darren Young who told a reporter about the issue during an encounter at LAX or "Fred" actor Lucas Cruikshank who revealed his sexual preference in a YouTube video, the Michael Scofield depicter opened up about his sexuality in a letter to the director of a Russian film festival.

"Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes," he said, as quoted by GLAAD on its site. "However, as a gay man, I must decline."

Benedict Cumberbatch Leaves Guillermo del Toro's 'Crimson Peak'

Having been attached since April, Benedict Cumberbatch has recently decided to exit "Crimson Peak", Legendary Pictures' upcoming horror movie that has "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo del Toro as the man behind the lens. The Hollywood Reporter adds details to the news first reported by Variety, revealing that his departure is not due to scheduling conflicts.

That leaves Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska as the remaining stars in the cast ensemble of the film which follows a woman who discovers that her husband might not be who he appears to be. The search for Cumberbatch's replacement is underway as the production is scheduled to be kicked off in February 2014.
