Adam Lambert Wishes to Land a 'Glee' Role

Adam Lambert has revealed his hope to land a role on "Glee". Praising the musical show for being "irresistible" and "charming", the "Whataya Want from Me" hitmaker said, "Hopefully, maybe now that I have some new music, I could go on there [starring on 'Glee']."

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter what role he wants to play, the runner-up on "American Idol" season 8 replied, "I want to just be me." He argued, "Why do I have to be a fictional character?"

'ER' Actor James Farentino Dies of Heart Failure

Sad news came from the acting world. James Farentino, who portrayed George Clooney's estranged father on "ER", has passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 24. Family spokesman Bob Palmer says the actor, who has suffered from a lengthy illness, died of heart failure at the age of 73.

Born on February 24, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Farentino launched his career with a 1961 Broadway appearance in "Night of the Iguana". He went on to earn a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer in 1967 for "The Pad and How to Use It". In 1978, he collected an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Saint Peter in the NBC miniseries "Jesus of Nazareth".

'Elfquest' Movie Reportedly Aborted Because of 'The Hobbit'

The long-awaited big screen take on comic book series "Elfquest" has been aborted by Warner Bros. Pictures, and the comics' creator Wendy Pin claimed that "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" was to blame. Pin revealed on "Elfquest" Facebook page that Warners has said "no" to the comic adaptation to avoid it from competing with Peter Jackson's "Hobbit".

"After close to four years of suspense, and no longer than four years of your much-appreciated interest and support, the word has come down from Warner Bros. And the word is 'no'," so Pin wrote. "Their simple explanation is that they don't want to compete with 'The Hobbit'. This was a possibility, among several, that we were prepared for. It is a relief, at last, you know."

Another major acquisition has just been closed at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday, January 24. After Fox Searchlight bought the distribution rights to Sundance darling "Beasts of the Southern Wild", it is now reported that Millennium Entertainment has bought the Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver-starring supernatural thriller "Red Lights".

Multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the movie was sold to Millenium for just under $4 million despite the fact that it cost between $15 million and $17 million to produce. The film itself has been receiving mixed reviews from critics since it was premiered at the Eccles Theatre last Friday, January 20.

Garth Brooks Wins Back His $500K Donation From Oklahoma Hospital

Garth Brooks has won the lawsuit he filed against an Oklahoma hospital for the misusing of his donation. On Tuesday, January 24, a jury ruled that Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital was guilty of fraud and breach of contract, and thus has to pay the "Friends in Low Places" singer $1 million.

The Associated Press reported that Integris was ordered to return the $500,000 Brooks donated in 2005 in honor of his mother, Coleen Brooks, who died of cancer in 1999. The hospital located in Yukon, Oklahoma also has to pay the country singer husband of Trisha Yearwood an additional $500,000 in punitive damages.

'Beauty and the Beast' Reimagination Ordered to Pilot by ABC

After launching "Once Upon a Time" last fall, ABC is planning another fairytale-themed show. The Alphabet's "Beauty and the Beast" has Jonathan Steinberg ("Human Target", "Jericho") serving as the writer. Gary Fleder ("Life Unexpected") and Mary Beth Basile ("October Road"), meanwhile, are on-board to executive produce the project, which is reportedly being eyed as a potential companion for "Once Upon a Time" in the Sunday slot.

She hit Simple Life House, the scene of Sundance's late-night soirees, for a night of fun. "One phone was found full of pictures of girls in porn-style poses.
