Mariah Yeater could be staring down a statutory rape charge. Just days after the 20-year-old woman filed a paternity lawsuit against , Los Angeles police Commander Andrew Smith told The Associated Press that she could be investigated for having sex with a minor.
No crime has been reported, but Smith said, "If it's brought to our attention, of course we'll look into it." Meanwhile, one of Yeater's lawyers, Matthew Pare, commented, "The issue of statutory rape, even if she's guilty, hypothetically, that has no bearing on the duties to provide child support. It's a totally separate issue."
