J.J. Abrams Confirmed No William Shatner in 'Star Trek'

Providing a certain answer to fans' still-burning question about the possibility of William Shatner making an appearance in the upcoming "Star Trek", director J.J. Abrams puts any speculations to rest. While discussing about his forthcoming television series "Fringe" in New York, the filmmaker insisted that the original Captain Kirk will not show up in the movie.

On the matter, Abrams rejected Shatner's chance on appearing in the film simply saying as quoted by IGN, " No, the only cast member from the original films is Nimoy." By stating Nimoy, he meant Leonard Nimoy, the original depicter of the USS Enterprise's science officer Mr. Spock. Previously, Shatner has also denied his involvement in the eleventh film saying, "I have no connection with the film whatsoever. It's the strangest thing. Even my dear friend Leonard [Nimoy] won't tell me what it's about."

Plain White T's to Premiere 'Natural Disaster' Music Video

Pop rock band Plain White T's have just finished shooting a music video for their first single called "Natural Disaster". The video will make its world premiere on their MySpace page this Wednesday on August 27.

The music video is scheduled as a medium to promote their fifth studio set "Big Bad World", which will be released on September 23. The album carries ten tracks which were recorded in both Malibu and Chicago, and produced by Johnny K.

Restricted Trailer of 'Surfer, Dude' Comes Out

The wave-catching surfer movie "Surfer, Dude" has caught its red band trailer. The new trailer is restricted to those who are underage since it contains some nudity and also shows lots of smoking. Aside from that, the compilation of clips is basically similar to the previous trailer released in July.

Resolving around longboarding soul-surfer Steve Addington, the Anchor Bay Entertainment's comedy starring Matthew McConaughey follows Addington as he returns to his Malibu hometown only to find that the waves have gone flat. In needs of money, he is forced to expand into the world of Virtual Reality Video Games and Reality TV. But, what he really needs is real waves.

Girls Aloud to Record Charity Single for Anti-Knife Campaign

A group of artists, including group Girls Aloud, are scheduled to record a charity anthem for a campaign against knife crimes in London. The project will also include singer Steve Edwards and some world champion athletes, such as boxers Johnny Nelson and Junior Witter.

The collaboration which will be named under U.K. Flow, is expected to contribute in the fund raiser program, conducted by a number of knife crime charity organizations. The song is initiated by Stephen Nicholas, an actor who starred in a British television series "Dream Team".

Tom Cruise's 'Valkyrie' Facing Lawsuit From Extras

Though "Valkyrie" has just delivered a great news with the pushing forward of its release date, it has been hit with another set back. Recent reports claimed that the controversial movie from Tom Cruise's United Artists is being threatened to be sued by a band of extras over the injuries they sustained during filming.

Seeking an $11 million compensation from both Cruise and his production company, the eleven actors argued that they have suffered bruises and head wounds when they were thrown from the side of the period truck used during the filming of a scene on Sunday evening, August 19, 2007. Berlin lawyer Ariane Bluttner has allegedly warned that the group will bring the case to a Californian court if their demand was not fulfilled.

Video Premiere: Kanye West's 'Good Morning'

Rapper Kanye West has just premiered a full version of "Good Morning" music video to continue supporting his third studio effort "Graduation", which was released in September 2007. The music video which has been leaked in late 2007, is now available for purchase on iTunes store for $1.49.

Takashi Murakami, the Japanese artist who has done the entire design of "Graduation", reportedly created the animated movie, which features Kanye West as the main character. He is seen as a bear who lives in a futuristic town called Universe City. One day, he wakes up very late and has to rush for his graduation ceremony. On the way to the ceremony, his flying car is broken so he has to take another alternative. Before finally reaching his campus and accepting his diploma from hip hop music university, Kanye West is seen having a lot of troubles, such as accidentally splashed by a car which is running close to him as he walks through the sidewalk. He also hits his head on the train door when trying to get in.

In the movie, Carrey plays Steven Russell, a married father and a conman who is sent to prison in Texas. While spending his time there, he falls in love with his cellmate Phillip Morris portrayed by McGregor. After Morris is being released, Russell escapes from prison four times doing whatever he can like faking his own death only to meet his lover.

Early this week, SVP Media and Artist Relation for Island Def Jam Music Group, Laura Swanson, has slammed down rumor saying that the recording company plan to call off their contract with rapper Jermaine Dupri. Laura issues a written statement, stating that the gossip is completely untrue. "There is absolutely no truth to the rumors regarding Jermaine Dupri. They are completely untrue," she wrote to SOHH.

Last week the rumor had hotly circulated in the media, saying that rapper Jermaine Dupri is terminated from the Def Jam because he didn't perform a satisfying work for some of Def Jam's artists. Jermaine has allegedly been blamed for Janet Jackson's "Discipline", which does not share the success of her previous albums. He is also said to be responsible for Mariah Carey's "E=MC²", which is reportedly having problems with a follow-up single after "Touch My Body".

'Twilight' Unwrapped to Shoot New Scenes

Though the principal photography of vampire drama "Twilight" has been wrapped up months earlier, the cast and crew of the Summit Entertainment's romantic thriller are going back to the production set once again. They are getting back together starting on Monday, August 25, to shoot several extra scenes to spice up the movie even more.

Talking to MTV News, Carlisle Cullen's depicter, Peter Facinelli, suggested that the additional shooting is not reshoots of previous scenes. "They liked it so much, they are bringing us back for some encore time - to beef it up," he said. "A little salt and pepper." In the same positive tone, another cast member Taylor Lautner stated on Friday, August 22, "We actually just had a rehearsal at [director] Catherine Hardwicke's house the other day for a new scene. It was a ton of fun."

'Dragonball' Cancellation Rumor Debunked

FilmJunk's speculation about "Dragonball Evolution" being in danger of getting canceled seems to hold no truth in it. Following the outing of their report concerning the live-action adaptation film, the movie's official blog, Dragonball the Movie, goes to the bottom of the story and allegedly gets a positive response from the 20th Century Fox.

According to the blog site, the studio have insisted that the information shared earlier was a false one and that the James Wong-directed movie is still slated to be released in April 2009. 'American Idol' Adding Kara DioGuardi as Fourth Judge

Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell are confirmed to be backed up with a fourth judge for the eight season of "American Idol". The reality show producer, Cecile Frot-Coutaz has recently announced that the reality show will be adding Grammy-nominated songwriter, Kara DioGuardi in judging panel. "We had originally intended for 'American Idol' to have four judges," the producer says in a statement.

The addition of Kara in the judging panel is aimed at keeping the show fresh and make it a bit more unpredictable. Cecile states in an interview, "We've seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers." Furthermore, Kara's criticism is also expected to bring out some new reactions from the other judges.

Two 'Riddick' Sequels on the Horizon, Revealed Vin Diesel

Despite the poor run of "The Chronicles of Riddick" in the box office, the two sequels of the sci-fi thriller have apparently been worked on. Video Premiere: T-Pain's 'Can't Believe It' Feat. Lil Wayne

Singer, rapper, and producer T-Pain has just premiered a music video for his latest single "Can't Believe It". The song which features rap peer Lil Wayne, has been confirmed as the first single from his upcoming third studio album "Thr33 Ringz", which is reportedly set to hit the stores on September 30.

The music video is recently shot in Los Angeles under the direction of Syndrome, the same guy who directed Estelle's "American Boy" and Lupe Fiasco's "Daydreamin'". The video is a circus-themed film and put the featured singer Lil Wayne as a cameo. It starts with the display of T-Pain rapping to the camera while holding his mini body on the palm of his own hand. He is also seen coming out of a huge black hat, which is usually used by a magician, and jumping into a sexy woman. The circus theme is also shown by a capture of ferris wheel where he is having fun with the woman.
