Brittany Murphy to Replace Lindsay Lohan in 'Poor Things'?

Brittany Murphy is said to be filling the empty role left by troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan. According to Hollywood Reporter, the co-star of Angelina Jolie in "Girl, Interrupted" is looking at the possibility to star in the dark comedy "Poor Things" after Lohan earlier dropped her involvement in the film.

Though it was said that the negotiation for the part hasn't been started yet, the certain thing is that if she is indeed signed, she will be joining the cast that include Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Rosario Dawson and Channing Tatum. She will also work under the direction of helmer Scott Marshall, and she will be teaming up with producers Rob Hickman and Jack Gilardi Jr. Meanwhile, the film itself resolves around two female con artists who became friends and decide to slain homeless men to collect on their insurance policies.

The mother-daughter duo arrived in Perth today, February 6 on a Qantas flight from Los Angeles via Melbourne, it has been reported. Thus, it is widely believed that she will attend Heath's funeral, which is expected to take place later this week.

Evan Kuhlman's 'Wolf Boy' Picked Up by Weinstein Co.

Evan Kuhlman's novel "Wolf Boy: A Novel" is allegedly going to be adapted to the big screen "Untitled Wolf Boy Project". According to Variety, the Weinstein Company has been granted the screen rights of the book which was published in 2006.

The novel tells the story about the Wolf family which loses a son following a car accident. On dealing with the grieving, the other son makes a superhero comic book based on his brother which he called Wolf Boy. The novel will be adapted by Christopher Parker, while the producers of the feature film will be given to Irwin Winkler and Jill Cutler.

Victoria's Secret Angel to Play Cover Girl in 'G.I. Joe'

Following the completing line-up of "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" cast, it was reported that the actress to play the beautiful character Courtney A. Kreiger, who are more well known as Cover Girl, has been signed. IESB has revealed that Czech supermodel Karolina Kurkova has been tapped to play the Joes' object of fantasy.

In the action adventure film, the 23-year-old model will be joining Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lee Byung-Hun among others. Portraying the G.I. Joe's tank jockey specializing in the Wolverine missile tank, she will also work with director Stephen Sommers for the film slated to be released on August 7.

Venom, the 'Spider-Man 3' Villain to Have Own Film?

Back in 2006, one of Spider-Man's enemies, Venom, was introduced to the fans in "Spider-Man 3". On Saturday, February 2, IESB reported that the evil Spider-Man look-alike, humanly known as Eddie Brock, will get his own share in the big screen.

On its movie news site, IESB confirmed the rumor that the studio owning the rights to the character, who has been portrayed by Topher Grace in the action hero film, have been in talks with several "A list writers" to make the spin-off film. It was said that New Line Cinema had the theatrical rights to Venom eight years ago, but had given back the right to Marvel which have teamed up with Sony Pictures for "Spider-Man 3". Hence, which studios to produce the spin-off isn't known yet.

Tom Epperson-written drama "The Kind One" may have found its leading man on Casey Affleck. Variety reported that the acclaimed 32-year-old actor has been attached to star in the period nior drama project.

Based on Epperson's novel published on January 22, 2008, "One" sees the story of an amnesiac who finds out that he is working for a mobster and falling in love to the girlfriend of the gangster. The film is said to be set in Los Angeles in 1930. According to Variety, the script will be penned by Epperson himself when the writers' strike is over.

Kate Hudson Becoming 'Big Eyes' Painter

The daughter of acclaimed actress Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, is going to appear in an independent film "Big Eyes". According to Variety, the "You, Me and Dupree" star has been set to portray the lead character Margaret Keane, the 1950s' successful painter who is known for her distinctive artworks featuring big-eyed children.

The drama film directed by first-time helmers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski follows Keane as she experienced a personal awakening that led to divorce battle between her and her husband who claimed the artworks as his. The movie was scheduled to begin shooting in June, but the certainty of the production is depended on the resolution of a new SAG contract.

Zac Efron's 'Me and Orson Welles' to Start Production Late February

The production of Zac Efron's coming-of-age romantic comedy "Me and Orson Welles" is set to begin soon. According to ComingSoon, the film will start taking its principal photography on February 24 in the Isle of Man. Following that, the filming will be continued at the Pinewood Studios located in London and New York.

Based on the novel by Robert Kaplow, "Welles" is set in the thrilling world of New York theater. It follows the story of a teenage student played by Efron who landed a minor role in the 1937 Mercury Theatre production of "Julius Caesar", which brought fame to its director 22-year-old genius Orson Welles portrayed by Christian McKay.

50th Annual Grammy Awards which is around the corner is taking shape with the addition of Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and John Legend to its performers line-up. The February 10 event will see a duet performance by the two acts plus the first time big duet between two tenors, Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli.

According to The ShowBuzz, jazz maestro Herbie Hancock and pianist Lang Lang will also take the stage for a composition by John Mauceri.
