Grammy-winning country singer Tim McGraw is expected to help Red Cross to increase the nation's blood supply by fronting the "Neighbors Give Life" blood drive planned to begin Thursday and run through September 5, 2005. Agreed to help the drive, which is sponsored by the American Red Cross and State Farm Insurance Co., McGraw said he will encourage and urge people to give blood up to six times a year, not just once.

As an attempt to raise people awareness about the need for blood donations, the sponsors are offering sweepstakes prizes including a free trip to a McGraw concert and autographed copies of McGraw's chart-topping "Live Like You Were Dying" CD. Potential winners need not be blood donors. Moreover, State Farm has also donated $1 million to the Red Cross to launch the program and will encourage blood donations from its 69,000 employees and 17,000 agents.

Actor Noah Wyle has decided to leave medical drama ER, where he plays as Dr. John Carter, as its regular cast member at the end of this season. The 33 years old star who remained with the series through its 11 years, will return for four episodes in each of the next two seasons.

ER executive producer John Wells told USA Today that he was very sad concerning Noah leave because they have had a lot of story together. Also John praised Noah as a wonderful actor and a wonderful man that it's been great to watch him grow up and get married and have a family.

Rocker and reality TV star Ozzy Osbourne and wife Sharon were forced to flee when a fire broke out in their mansion at Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, last Friday March 25, 2005. They were in bed when a fire broke out in the living room after the heat from a fireplace burned wood panelling. Two fire engines immediately arrived on the scene and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses entered the mansion and put out the flames.

"Million Dollar Baby" star Hilary Swank has faced her final fine because "simply forgot" she had an apple and orange fruits in her bag after her 20-hour flight into New Zealand. Losing her bid for an appeal, the 30-year-old Oscar-winning actress was issued notice of a fine for failing to declare the forbidden fruits while arriving from Los Angeles on January 15, 2005.

She at first appealed a penalty, which unfortunately rejected by the Manukau District Court. And so she was yesterday ordered to pay out $142 in fines plus an additional $21 for court fees.
