not good & not bad

It's outrageous that this movie was marketed to young children. In a recent commercial, "viewers" excitedly said, "it was a fun movie." Anything but fun, this movie terrorized my 4 and 7 year old addressing their worst fears, the capture of parents, murder of children, and the threat of eyeball removal and needles being thrust upon eye sockets. A disturbing plot for little ones, this movie shouldn't have been rated as pg. At least, adequate information should have been available for a parent to offer guidance against seeing this movie.

I think this movie was great! People who's kids were scared by this movie should have known better than to bring them to it. I thought this movie had great characters and was a fun adventure for mysterious types of people such as myself. The graphics were incredible and 3D was amazing! It honestly looked real (which it was) and the songs in the movie were the kind that you could listen to over and over. Great job Henry and Neil!

"wonderfully creepy",no just a bit trippy. "Coraline" was the best animated movie ive seen since "Nightmare Before Christmas" or "Corpse Bride". the movie kept me on the edge of my seat with some creepy creatures, buituiful sceanery and delightfuly insane characters. If you havent seen it yet, i would suggest going to see it while its in 3D. or rent the DVD when it comes out but 3D just makes it that much more.....THRILLING lets say.i jumped 8 times couse of the 3D. this is a movie for the whole family and everyone will love the buituful movie pictures

for those of you who thought young children would like this movie, PLEAS GOD tell me this is your first tim burton or anyone who worked with tim burton movie.... i beleve this movie is better for adges 10 and up. and to stroodle, watch nightmare before christmas and tell me if ur kids wer more scared of monsters kidnapping santa(nightmare before christmas), i girl riseing from the dead and trying to mary a skinny creepy guy(corpse bide), or coraline.yes i do understand they are very young and the four year old, yes id be scared too, the seven year old, i can kinda understand that but i would think he/she would have loved it, i love Tim Burton and the directors he worked withs films since i was 6. no offense inteanded to anyone who was "frightend" by the movie but if u actualy wer scared by it and ur over 10...... your a puss

I found the movie to be quite dazzling and enchanting, despite what some extreme critics might say. I understand your argument against the film's graphics, but I have to disagree. This movie is not the only so-called horror film that will frighten your child, there are many more to come--so get over it. Also, for those who love to use a good amount of space to criticize the film, please take an English class and learn how to type. Your writing is ridiculous and it only further proves how dimwitted you are.

This was hands down, one of the best movies I've seen. I took my 2 year old to see it, and was a bit concerned when the charming but creepy music started in the beginning, but I kept an eye on her throughout the film and she seemed ok. I can understand how some kids would be scared, but my daughter loved it! We even went back and saw it again! I'm planning on buying her the Coraline Bendy Doll. FANTASTIC!

Many people see the case that if it was made from a book, it's got to be a bad movie, or not nearly as good as the book- but not this case. They did an excellent job in filling in what little they did not have that the book did. The fact that it is also is the first claymation movie to be made in 3D gives it another incredible boost.

And for pete sakes people, Tim Burton had absolutely nothing to do with this movie.

This a comment for ast, this movie was rate "PG". Although I semi-agree that it's not a kids movie. As parents we just have to get ourselves informed. If you don't have enough information don't take them to see it. And also the movie is not a Tim Burton production. It's assumed that it is but it's from the producers of "The Nightmare before Christmas". If you have seen the "Nightmare before Christmas" movie you would know the sytle of the movie. I thought the boob thing was bit much, but that's just me. My daughter is 14 and loved the movie, but she is 14. Just be careful what you take you kids to see. It was a bit spooky, but it has a good message at the end. It's not for everyone. But I recommend it for most over 12 years old.

This movie was amazing! I was so happy when I saw it coming out in theaters, and I got a wonderfully creepy and fun feeling from it. The Other Mother creeped me, but it was a really good movie overall! The only thing I didn't like from it was the addition of Wybie. Don't get me wrong! I loved the character, but I am reading the book now and he wasn't in it, and I was suprised...

Definition of PG is parental guidance. This means that your "protective" parents should know that before taking your very young children to see a PG rated movie they should research the rating of the movie and possible adult content since it is clearly stated that an "adult" must be present for "guidance" in viewing the movie. There are several websites you can go to that will give reviews on any movie you are interested in. Take the time to research. Learn to google you idiot!

Once again, Neal Gaiman delivers! I thought Coraline was awesome-not just because of the amazing animation, but also because of the thrilling story and imagination that was present in the whole movie. I think that the last animated movie I loved this much was Meet the Robinsons. If you're interested in seeing more movies that Gaiman has been involved in (even though he's mainly a comic book guy), I would recommend Mirrormask. It's a little long, but no less amazing.

posted by Fantacryter on May 14, 2009

Uhm, a comment for "Stroodle". You're an idiot for having believed this you know? The man who WROTE Coraline is -known- for creating creepy things. Even -I- knew it wasn't for children before I had a chance to see it, and I don't have kids. You should've done what good parents do and read up on the film instead of being an idiot and thinking it was okay off the bat.

This movie was very enteraining for me. I've loved Henery Selick and Tim Burton my whole entire life. I already read "Coraline" the book a while back before the movie. I thought it was faboulous. It's different and very unigue. It's so different from everything eles that Henery Selick has done, and definity brought up a new level of imagination that is way past everything eles he has done. This film really surpised me. I loved everymoment of it. This is great work, REALLY!. Henery Selick and Tim Burton need to keep this up. I love their animated movies. Like Neil Gaiman said "Why can't every movie be like this,?" It's different, outside of the box, brilliant, breath taking, creepy but in a good way, it brings out a new look, a new feeling, a great and indifferent taste. It's great! It's way past ordinary. It's brilliant, stunning. Any person with this kind of imagation. Is definity the King of animated Movies. Their work on this movie is Terrific! I wish them the best on Everything and God bless them!

I loved this movie!!!! Everything about it was great! Coraline is the best stuff i've seen since Nightmare before Christmas, and The Corpse Bride. However, even though I LOVED this movie,it was really different than the book. For example, Neil wanted to create a heroine instead of a hero. In the book, Coraline cleverly outtwits the Other Mother and escapes from her wrath. In the movie, Coraline escapes by dumb luck. In the book, after she has the dream, she carefully planned about how to get the key, and the Other Mother's hand, down the well. In the movie, after the dream she had, she let her guard down and went to put the key down the well, where she got attacked by the Other Mother's hand. While she was being attacked, Wybie came in knight and shining armor. Heck, just because the movie was kind of different than the book doesn't mean I didn't love it. It was like a gothic Alice in Wonderworld, it had a eerie affect to it. I give it 5 stars. You may be thinking, " Why the heck would someone who thought the movie had no relation with the book give it 5 stars?" Yes, that is strange, but i'm a strange girl. And you can take that to the bank Stroodle

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! When I saw the commercials, i didn't really care for it, but when I saw it, I LOVED IT!!! It created a gothic, eerie sort of enviroment, i mean, if you saw someone who looked like your mom with buttons on their eyes, wouldn't you get freaked out a little bit? The people who created the movie did an excellent job. Kudos to you makers of Coraline. I know a lot of people disagree with this fact, but, I thought adding Wybie to the movie was perfect. The people added him because they didn't want Coraline talking to herself all the time, I think he made the movie a little bit better (if you don't agree, I don't give a care) All the people who voiced the characters were great, Teri Hatcher, Dakota Fanning, Robert bailey jr., John Hodgeman, Dawn French, Ian McShane, and Jennifer Saunders. Kudos to you too. Overall, the movie, the characters, the detail, and so much more stuff that would take me 8 hours to type it down, were fantasmic!! and Stroodle, maybe you should taken your kids to see the Care Bears movie instead of Coraline, or you should have at least read some REVIEWS about the movie first, you not smart person.
