The "Artichoke King" Is William Hung
May 19, 2006 02:05:45
Not successfully managed to be an American Idol, William Hung at least still has something to proud of. The man is being crowned "Artichoke King" in the small city that calls itself "artichoke capital of the world."
The crowning, in fact, places him in line with Marilyn Monroe who was the first "Artichoke Queen" at the 1947 Castroville Artichoke Festival. And such attainment obviously leads Hung to ride in parade Sunday May 21st, during which he will perform new versions of The Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA" and the Billy Ray Cyrus line-dancing anthem "Achy Breaky Heart."
American Pop Veterans, The Beach Boys, Sued
May 15, 2006 11:05:05
Roy Sciacca, a rock memorabilia collector, has filed a counter-lawsuit against The Beach Boys over their $20 million lawsuit against him in January, in which the band accused him of thievery. The American pop veterans had on their lawsuit alleged that Roy stole photos, original sheet music, recordings and other band memorabilia from them and thus attempted to prevent him from selling those stuff.
Due to such fact, Brother Records, which owns the rights to the Beach Boy's music, blocked a planned auction of the items last year and filed a lawsuit in California against Sciacca.
Beach Boys File $20 Million Suit Over Memorabilia
January 13, 2006 04:01:53Rock 'n' Roll group, The Beach Boys, filed a $20 million lawsuit in federal court in Los Angeles on Wednesday Jan 11th, naming two California men Allan Gaba, the owner of a North Hollywood warehouse, his friend, Roy Sciacca, and Gem Systems Inc., a company Sciacca was involved in as those who stole a trove of photos, recordings and other band memorabilia from a warehouse with the intent to put the items up for auction.
As mentioned in the complaint, the Boys had been using Gaba's warehouse to store musical instruments, original sheet music, charts, photos, contracts and other items collected over the years from the early days of the popular '60s group. Apparently, by the year 1994, when they decided to clear out the warehouse, Gaba had removed between 13 and 25 boxes full of their memorabilia without permission.
