Alternative rock band Angels & Airwaves dominated the 2006 mtvU Woodie Awards, held Wednesday Oct 25th at New York's Roseland Ballroom. The band, formed by former Blink-182 star Tom DeLonge, claimed the event's top prize the Woodie of The Year (Artist of the Year) award.
Also won an honor during the award show, held to honor US college students' favorite emerging artists and music, was Plain White T's who brought home The Breaking Woodie (Best Emerging Artist) award, and Gnarls Barkley who nabbed the Left Field Woodie (Most Original Artist) award.
The Lineup for the Annual Ozzfest

The annual Ozzfest hard-rock tour is coming and names included in the lineup slated to perform at the event have also been announced. Ozzy Osbourne is one among many who has been tapped to perform for 10 shows. The singer will be teamed up with such musicians as System of a Down, Disturbed, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil and another major act to be announced on May 23.
The tour, begins July 1 in San Francisco, will play at least 20 cities. Some other musicians slated to perform include Black Label Society, Atreyu, Unearth, Bleeding Through, Norma Jean, A Life Once Lost, Strapping Young Lad, The Red Chord, Full Blown Chaos, All That Remains and Between The Buried And Me.
The Top 10 Debuts of Album Chart
December 08, 2005 04:12:09Here is the list of names included in the Top 10 of album chart for the weeks leading up to Christmas. The top spot is held by the hits package "NOW! That's What I Call Music 20" by various artists which is sold 158,000 copies across the United States in the week ended December 4. Comes after at 2nd is R&B singer Chris Brown, whose "Chris Brown" album sold 154,000 copies.
The No. 3 position is secured by 'American Idol' Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" which ups four places from No. 7. Next comes Kenny Chesney's "The Road and the Radio" which drops two places to No. 4 with 138,000 copies, ahead of Colombian rocker Shakira, whose new English-language album "Oral Fixation, Vol. 2," enters the chart at No. 5 on sales of 128,000.
Musicians Top the Album Chart

The music group's "Hypnotize" sold 324,000 copies in its first week of release, placing them exactly on the top position. Just behind them at No. 2 on the chart is Kenny Chesney, whose "The Road and the Radio" sold another 300,000 units this week.
"Now That's What I Call Music! 20" by various artists secures the 3rd place on sales of 290,000 units, followed by Madonna's "Confessions on a Dancefloor" at No. 4 with 210,000 units. Rounding out the Top 5 is "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" soundtrack which sold 207,000 units.
Musicians Do Almost Acoustic Xmas Show for KROQ-FM
November 16, 2005 03:11:38Christmas is coming and everyone is busy to welcome the big day. Christmas tree, candle, mistletoe, and things related with the celebration are everywhere. As of our musicians, they are also busy with the preparation for the Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM's annual Almost Acoustic Xmas show to be held December 10-11 at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk.
Those who have signed on to perform on the show among others are Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay, The White Stripes, System of a Down, and Korn. Get the turn to perform on the first night is NIN, System of a Down, Korn, Fall Out Boy, Thrice, Rise Against and Avenged Sevenfold. Whereas, the next evening will see performances by Depeche Mode, The White Stripes, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf, Hot Hot Heat and The Bravery.
System of a Down Top on Album Charts
May 26, 2005 09:05:59The last five weeks have been rock act's week as they continued dominating the top charts. System of a Down is the one of many who doubled their pleasure as "Mezmerize," their first album in three years, debuted at No. 1 on latest Billboard album chart, sold approximately 453,000 copies. Along with the band's success was Toby Keith's "Honkytonk University," which debuted at No. 2 with 283,000 albums sold, while Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" remained in third place with 173,000 copies sold.
Last week champ, Dave Matthews Band's "Stand Up" fell to No. 4 with 158,000 copies sold, and soon followed by R&B singer Kem, whose second album titled "Album II" sold 140,000 to debut at No. 5. The other acts rounding out the list among others Weezer's "Make Believe," Gwen Stefani's "Love.Angel.Music.Baby," 50 Cent's "The Massacre," Natalie's "Natalie," and Nine Inch Nails' "With Teeth."
