On Tuesday, August 25 at a news conference at Beso Restaurant, NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguia and Executive Producer Eva Longoria revealed that there will be 11 actors and 8 actresses competing for Best Actor and Best Actress.
Among those vying for Best Actor of the Year title are "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" leading man Javier Bardem, "Two Lovers" star Joaquin Phoenix and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" actor Ramon Rodriguez. Joaquin Phoenix to Record Debut Album

Burgess revealed that after playing the role of legendary musician Johnny Cash in the 2005 movie "Walk The Line", Joaquin, who got himself to learn how to play guitar on the movie, found a passion to make music. "Once he learnt guitar he found that he had quite a lot of demons inside himself that he wanted to expel through music," Burgess said.

More than 110,000 votes on the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)'s annual contest on the "World's Sexiest Vegetarians" have been counted and the organization made public the results Tuesday June 26th, ending a month-long poll on PETA.org.
Among the winners mentioned is Carrie Underwood who's named PETA's World's Sexiest Vegetarian Woman for 2007, thus marking her second win as "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" as she previously also won the title in the 2005 poll. Meanwhile, leader of NBC's "Tonight Show" band Kevin Eubanks voted PETA's World's Sexiest Vegetarian Man.

Anderson might pose some strip actions more to deliver the non-fur message. The actor who performed Johnny Cash signed up a heart-throbbing letter addressed to every top California politician in a support-request for the new bill.
The new bill sets the rule upon dogs' rights, forbid attaching chain to dogs. Any flaw upon the issue is considered as a state offense. Phoenix in his letter emphasized that "life at the end of a chain is miserable" and it also brings the even more dangerous threat to the society. He also stated that chaining dogs only making dogs lonely and suffering. The new animal rights activist, still in his letter, strongly reminded that the chaining issue will only present "a very real danger to people, especially children who wander into the area where dogs are kept chained".

Participating in the fourth annual Red Carpet, Green Cars event, movie stars like George Clooney, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, Frances McDormand, and Jennifer Aniston will arrive at Oscars in green cars before they walk through the red carpet to the award ceremony. Sponsored by Toyota Motor Corp. and the environmental organization Global Green USA, the event will use the Toyota or Lexus hybrids to pick up all of those VIPs.
Kathy Kniss, the event spokeswoman, said that initially the program began with only four participants in 2002, but since then the interest in fuel-efficient vehicles has grown quite satisfyingly. "There's a huge, huge following. People are flocking to the hybrids," so she said. In the meantime, other automakers, such as Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp., are also ready to get into the act, lending their cars to be used by other celebrities who will attend this year's Academy Awards slated to be held on Sunday, March 5.

Portraying Cash, the actor remarked that he only tried to get into his character's emotional state when banged his head on a bedpost during a scene in which Cash is going through drug withdrawal.
