his reputation as New Jersey's sensation. When he was confident enough, he began making demo tapes that he sent to various recording houses. Finally his voice impressed Naughty by Nature's hip-hop DJ, KayGee who immediately signed him under the label Divine Mill Records. Through the two people's hard work, Jah's debut album “Ghetto Love” was released in 2001 after making a breakthrough with his first single “Could It Be” the year before. The single immediately entered the U.S Billboard Hot 100 and so did the following one titled “Just in Case” which was released in 2001.

The next year, he was back to pamper his fans by recording his second album “Still Ghetto” which also featured his duet with Mary J. Blige and the girl group Tha' Rayne. The album successfully secured a nomination at the 2003 Soul Train Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album, Male while as a singer he received the nomination as Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist at the 2003 American Music Awards.
