Luther Vandross Rare Duets Released in Box Set

Another record post Luther Vandross' death will be released later this year. After 2006's 'The Ultimate Luther Vandross', a box set containing four-CD collection of his greatest hits, rare recordings and unreleased tracks will be dropped in October.
Among collaborators in the record called 'Love, Luther' are Frank Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Beyonce Knowles. The duets with Sinatra and Knowles are those that have never been released before.

The US album charts for the week ended Sunday August 27th saw the prominence of the MTV-constructed band, Danity Kane, as the music act topped the top spot with their album "Danity Kane" sold 234,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the meantime, OutKast's "Idlewild" opened at No. 2 with the LaFace release sold 196,000 units.
With the emerge of the new chart-toppers, reigning champ Christina Aguilera's RCA album "Back to Basics" fell to the 3rd spot with 135,000, ahead of Mexican rock group Mana's "Amar Es Combatir" at No. 4 sold 87,000 copies. With such attainment, the Mexican rock group indeed scored the highest charting and biggest debut for a Spanish-language album for a duo or group on The Billboard 200.
"The Return" of Ruben Studdard

After such a long absence from music industry, Ruben Studdard is back. The winner of the second season of The American Idol is reported to release his long awaited sophomore R&B/soul album, "The Return of the Velvet Teddy Bear ," on September 26 later this year via J Records.
The lead single of the new album, titled "Change Me" is produced by The Underdogs and goes to urban adult and urban mainstream radio July 31st. As of the album itself "The Return", which is the follow-up to his debut album "Soulful" released in 2003, includes additional production by Scott Storch, Ne-Yo, Brian-Michael Cox, Harold Lilly, Dre & Vidal and others.

History repeats itself. That works for such great person as world's great musician Luther Vandross. His death nearly one year ago, apparently, won't prevent you, especially his fanatics, to keep listening to his great vocal.
A trio of record labels, J, Epic and Legacy Records, are teaming up together to issue some previously unreleased songs by the singer. The set, dubbed "The Ultimate Luther Vandross", which was previously released in 2001, will consists of 18 songs, naming some are "Shine" and "Got You Home" among others.
R&B Crooner Dies
July 02, 2005 09:07:18Music world and its occupants mourn the death of R&B crooner Luther Vandross, who is claimed to have "never really recovered from" a stroke two years ago. The Grammy award winner died Friday at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, N.J., at 54 years old.
Details on the cause of the death weren't released. Vandross' publicist, Jeff O'Conner, said he received condolence calls Friday from some music stars, including Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.
