Cherish Biography

news-detailsBeing born within short intervals made the sisters of Cherish not only bonding at home but publicly too. Farrah the oldest who was born in the 1984 was joined by her sisters Neosha (1986) and twins Felisha and Fallon (1988) to form a singing group called Cherish. They were indeed no stranger to music business as their father who later on became their manager has been involved in Pop aka Professions of Sounds that once hit the road with funk group Earth, Wind & Fire. Though having the benefit, the girls were particularly honorable for their effort to write their own materials. The girls found themselves being able to work harmoniously as Fallon self-explained, "My style is really more cool and laid back. I'm the lowest note out of the group and I have sort of a soothing, airy feel to my voice. Farrah's the sophisticated one out of the group. Felisha and I are kinda tomboyish while Neosha is the sexy one. She's the soprano. We all have our unique sound."

They started their career in the 2003 when they were still tweens. Ashanti Records took them in and an album called "The Moment" was recorded. A single titled "Miss P." received moderate success, enough to pull them up to the music scene but still mild enough to launch their career. The single that features Da Brat was the only released material from "The Moment" for the album was shelved without known reason. They consequently parted ways with the label. The set back did not discourage the girls for their talent reached out to Capitol Records where renown producer Jermaine Dupri was under. The girls were encouraged to write their won materials that can suit their image.

Soon the work of the debut album was completed in 2006, preceded with a smash hit single "Do It to It". The Sean Paul-featuring single managed to peak at #12 on Billboard Hot 100 chart and #10 on U.S. R 'n' B chart. Its video that featured the girls going rebellious against their parent's will, was also popular that it was listed to have reached #2 on BET 's 106 & Park. The album "Unappreciated" was released in August 2006 along with the title track as a single. When it hit the stores, the album was sold more than 91,000 copies, catapulting it to the fourth position of the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Prompted with the success, the girls soon find themselves at the studio again, working on their sophomore effort.

After more than a year baking the effort, Cherish release their second album that holds the title "The Truth" on May 13, 2008. Coming with a more mature approach the then almost women band explained the concept behind the album as "When we wrote The Truth, we named the album The Truth because basically every song on the album is from personal experiences and we wanted to get personal with our fans. We want everybody to know that they're not alone going through these things and we're here." The first single "Killa" features a collaboration from rapper Yung Joc and the second one "Amnesia" was done solo.
