The confirmation comes a month after Billy and his third wife Kate Lee confirmed their separation.
While the representative doesn't elaborate on Billy and Alex's romance, New York Post reports the twosome first met through friends backstage at his recent Washington, DC, concert. "The two hit it off immediately," an insider tells the publication. And since that time, Alex has been visiting Joel at his home in Sag Harbor, "where they go boating or ride around on Joel's custom motorcycles."

Contrary to the Idol outcast Scott MacIntyre's claim that Billy had been invited to the show but couldn't make it, Billy's rep tells Entertainment Weekly that the singer "was never invited on 'American Idol' to perform with Scott. He did not pull out. He's currently on tour."
Scott MacIntyre recently posted a message on his MySpace, sharing his disappointment about not taking the stage during the Idol finale. He claimed to be originally scheduled to sing with Billy Joel but since Billy "was unable to make it in the end," the duet project was said to be cut from the show.

Bruce Springsteen aka The Boss and Billy Joel aka the Piano Man will hop on one stage for the first time ever next month in the bid to raise money for the Democratic candidate.
The concert is scheduled to take place on October 16 at Hammerstein Ballroom. A day before that Obama will conclude his debate with senator John McCain at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. Obama reportedly will also attend the show but will pay less for the tickets.

Welcoming the forthcoming Super Bowl XLI pregame show on CBS at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, Feb. 4, the NFL announced Monday January 22nd the tapping of Grammy-Award winning performer Billy Joel to sing the National Anthem during the event.
Thus, the singer will become the first performer to sing the national anthem twice in the Super Bowl. His first was also in South Florida, during Super Bowl XXIII in Miami in 1989.

The tour, which includes 39 shows across the United States and Canada, is the third-highest on Pollstar's all-time list, behind the Stones' 2005 tour ($US162 million), and Irish rock band U2's trek that same year ($US138.9 million). Back on the 2006 list, behind the rockers is Barbra Streisand who's taking in $US92.5 million for just 20 shows.
