October 18, 2008 02:10:49Bruce Springsteen joined forces with Billy Joel in a live concert to support Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Taking place at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on October 16, the gig was aimed to raise funds for the Democratic presidential candidate of November-4 U.S. general election.
The show was opened with India.Arie and John Legend singing "Ordinary People" and U2's "Pride (In the Name of Love)" during a brief acoustic set. It then continued with Joel taking the stage and picking up his guitar for "Glory Days". Springsteen, his wife Patti Scialfa, and E Street Band's keyboardist Roy Bittan joined Joel and his band for "10th Avenue Freeze-Out".

Bruce Springsteen aka The Boss and Billy Joel aka the Piano Man will hop on one stage for the first time ever next month in the bid to raise money for the Democratic candidate.
The concert is scheduled to take place on October 16 at Hammerstein Ballroom. A day before that Obama will conclude his debate with senator John McCain at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. Obama reportedly will also attend the show but will pay less for the tickets.

The event that also marks the 151st anniversary of Philadelphia's Academy of Music, will also see Joel performing his pop materials with the orchestra and appearances by Blue Man Group, soprano Disella Larusdottir and pianist Conrad Tao.

Welcoming the forthcoming Super Bowl XLI pregame show on CBS at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, Feb. 4, the NFL announced Monday January 22nd the tapping of Grammy-Award winning performer Billy Joel to sing the National Anthem during the event.
Thus, the singer will become the first performer to sing the national anthem twice in the Super Bowl. His first was also in South Florida, during Super Bowl XXIII in Miami in 1989.

Notwithstanding with the time changing, The Rolling Stones remains great. The Rock 'n' Roll band has topped the list of the Biggest-Grossing North American Tours of 2006, selling 138.5 million dollars worth of tickets for their 'A Bigger Bang' shows.
The tour, which includes 39 shows across the United States and Canada, is the third-highest on Pollstar's all-time list, behind the Stones' 2005 tour ($US162 million), and Irish rock band U2's trek that same year ($US138.9 million). Back on the 2006 list, behind the rockers is Barbra Streisand who's taking in $US92.5 million for just 20 shows.
Billy Joel Tour Dates Revealed

The tour is about to begin in early 2006 with Joel to perform January in Tampa, Boston and New York City, and an early April stop in Las Vegas. Moreover, the piano man also will hold a January show in Jacksonville, FL; and a March engagement in Philadelphia.
