After unleashing his latest original single, the 'All My Life' singer receives positive responses from his listeners for being a good songwriter and having a great voice.

AceShowbiz - Billy Joel might have put smiles on his devotees' faces. More than one week after revealing that he was working on new music, the "All My Life" singer, who is famously known as the "Piano Man," released his first single in nearly two decades titled "Turn the Lights Back On".

On Thursday, February 1, the 74-year-old music legend's latest original song arrived and could be listened to on various music streaming platforms. In the beginning of the track, he sings, "Please open the door/ Nothing is different, we've been here before/ Pacing these halls/ Trying to talk over the silence/ And pride sticks out its tongue/ Laughs at the portrait that we've become/ Stuck in a frame, unable to change/ I was wrong."

Billy continues, "I'm late, but I'm here right now/ Though I used to be romantic/ I forgot somehow/ Time can make you blind/ But I see you now/ As we're laying in the darkness/ Did I wait too long/ To turn the lights back on?"

The "Uptown Girl" hitmaker adds, "Herе, stuck on a hill/ Outsiders inside the homе that we built/ The cold settles in/ It's been a long winter of indifference/ And maybe you love me, maybe you don't/ Maybe you'll learn to, maybe you won't/ You've had enough, but I won't give up/ On you."

After dropping the single, Billy was showered with praise by many of his listeners. One in particular gushed, "Thank you Billy. This 63 year old just became a young man for a few minutes listening. Memories are flooding back. What a gift." Another marveled, "We need a whole album, he's such a good writer! His skills haven't aged a day."

A third praised, "They say music feeds the soul and opens hearts. This powerful song is exactly what we need. Thank you, piano man. We were all in the mood for a melody, and you got us feeling all right." A fourth exclaimed, "I can't believe how great his voice sounds. That is not a 75-year-old voice. That is the voice of greatness."

Billy teased the new song on January 20. In a TikTok video, he said, "I have good news, I have bad news, I'll give you the bad news first. We don't have anything new to play for you. The good news is you don't have to sit through something you have no idea what it is! Although … we got a little something we're working on you might hear sometime."
