She won Best Video, pushing aside The Dead Weather, Mika, Dizzee Rascal and Florence and The Machine. She, however, was not present at the show, much to host Al Murray's dismay. "Remember Lady GaGa it's show business not show friends!" Al said.
Though grabbing Best Video, Lady GaGa was beaten in Breakthrough Artist category. She lost the title to Mr. Hudson. "Wow, thanks. White Lies sort of stole my speech," he said making a reference to the previously-announced winner. "I've never won anything before, thanks alot. I'm going to take this straight round to my mum's house and put it on the mantelpiece, thanks a lot."
Arctic Monkeys' 'Crying Lightning' Music Video

In this fresh video, the four members of the band are seen getting into one small boat and sailing through the ocean. Nearing the end, four giant transparent figures are captured rising up out from the water.
"Crying Lightning" is scheduled to be listed in Arctic Monkeys' soon-to-be-released studio album "Humbug". When the song came out on July 6 in U.K., it debuted at number 12 on the U.K. Singles chart.

While Oasis were given the ultimate honor of being Best British Band, Jonas Brothers were handed out two of the Worst titles, Worst Band and Worst Album.
On Wednesday, February 25, at the O2 Academy Brixton, the Manchester band Oasis came out victorious over Muse and Radiohead among others. Though unable to attend the ceremony due to live commitments in Europe, the band sent acceptance video featuring also host Russell Brand. "This is ironic, we're being given Best British Band by the second best British comedian," Noel Gallagher jokingly said. "Thanks to all the readers who've voted... This has turned into a right bad idea..."
Arctic Monkeys Start Third Album's Work

To help them finish their upcoming set, the band have asked the assistant of James Ford, who also worked with the band on their second LP, to produce their new record.
Confirming about the news, James explained to the press about the new album plans and also suggested that the work is still at an infant stage saying, "It's too early to say what sort of direction they'll go in next." But the producer also confirmed that the band have already gotten one song finished. "But they've got at least one tune up their sleeves that sounds massive already," he said.

Arctic Monkeys' Third Release May Be Unconventional

The four-piece that had just dropped 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' as their second album in April this year, are heading to the studio to work on it.
"We've got things written, several new ideas and new songs that are ready to record," drummer Matt Helders told BBC 6Music. "We will do recording early on. We might not necessarily record and then release an album. We might just do little bits at once or (release) singles."

Arctic Monkeys is the predicted frontrunner of 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize, an award that appreciates best 12 British records in the last 12 months. The only heavy competition running alongside the Sheffield band's "Favourite Worst Nightmare" is Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black".
Of all the 12 nominees, Arctic and Winehouse have been marked by William Hill as favorites to claim the prize, with odds of 4/1. San Diego's annual music festival Street Scene comes back with bigger headliners this year. Two of this year's biggest music acts, The Killers and Muse, are confirmed to play in the Sept 22-23 event.

Indie rock act Arctic Monkeys will pack two of its non-UK released songs in a white label. The sale of the 12" vinyl record will be limited up to 1,000 copies only.
Singles "Matador" and "Da Frame 2r" are the two songs which are not included in the UK version of "Favourite Worst Nightmare". The two songs are lifted from the Japanese release of the sophomore set. The white label will be in stores by June 18 but the circulation is strictly controlled by its label, Domino. By paying £3.49 a copy and logging on Domino's website, fans are guaranteed the limited edition.

The third cycle of Ibiza Rocks will feature Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and even Mika this summer. They will be joined by the likes such as The View, CSS, The Fratellis, LCD Soundsystem and The Enemy.

Not simply dressing, drummer Matt Helders even stated the possibility to fly. He said in an inteview, "I want to zip-line in by wire and land on my drum stool. One hour and 45 minutes is the approximate duration of Glastonbury Festival's sold out tickets. Opened on April 1 at 09.00 BST, 137,500 tickets were gone as fast as lightning on websites like eBay.
Michael Eavis, the festivals' organizer said that he was thrilled and considered it as a 100 percent success. "It's probably the fastest time we have ever sold out," he told BBC News. Arctic Monkeys is in full spirit that they quickly release a new album in the wake of the success of their latest LP, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I Am Not". The UK rock act has planned an April 23 international release date for its second album, "Favourite Worst Nightmare."
The album's first single, "Brianstorm," is scheduled to hit the store by April 16. "It's quite a bit heavier in some places -- there's also some really nice songs on there," Billboard.com quoted producer James Ford as saying. "Some of the songs maybe (have) more depth to them. (It's) maybe not quite as instant as the first one."

The new bassist of music group Arctic Monkeys broke his hand. Fortunately, Nick O'Malley, who is set to replace Andy Nicholson who pulled out of the US tour due to exhaustion, will still play with the band in America.
Explaining on what makes O'Malley broke his hand, fellow The Dodgems bandmate Phil Goodwin said: "As we walking home form the pub, our roadie grabbed [O'Malley] and pulled him over our neighbor's wall. It's quite high and he landed on his right hand. It is his plectrum hand and he has a pot on it - but he says he can still hold a plectrum."

Anyway, Madonna has again held onto the top spot in both the UK album and singles charts. Her single "Hung Up" taken from her chart toper album "Confessions on a Dancefloor," tops UK singles charts Sunday for the third week in a row. Meanwhile, the album itself stays at number one in the album chart for a second week.

The pop star successfully tops UK singles chart with her ABBA-sampling disco anthem "Hung Up" which is one of the many singles included in her latest album "Confessions on a Dancefloor." With such attainment, she obviously knocks last week's champ Westlife's ballad "You Raise Me Up" to the second place.
In the third place of the chart is the new British band Son of Dork with their single "Ticket Outta Loserville." Another new comer to enter the chart is Simon Webbe whose single "No Worries" at the fourth place, ahead of Arctic Monkeys' "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" which drops three places to fifth.
Still on Top of the Charts Is Westlife
November 08, 2005 11:11:31Irish boy band Westlife celebrates their winning, even double as their latest album entitled "Face To Face" has joined their single "You Raise Me Up" at the top of the charts. This is the second time that their single is number one, while the album attainment automatically pushes Robbie Williams' "Intensive Care" off the top spot to No. 2 as Rod Stewart's "Thanks for the Memory -- Great American Songbook Vol. 4" entering the charts at No. 3.
In the meantime, at number 4 in the album chart is "Living A Dream," which is another new entry by Katherine Jenkins. The Prodigy compilation album "Their Law - The Singles" falls three places to number five.
Westlife Tops UK Singles Charts

Now, the Irish boy band scores another record, their 13th number one hit, with their cover version of ballad "You Raise Me Up." With the single, Westlife successfully knocks the top of the British singles charts, sets aside last week's top track "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor" by rock band Arctic Monkeys to No. 2.
In the third slot of the charts is Sugababes' "Push The Button," which drops one place after previously spent three weeks at the top. British singer Kate Bush, in addition, makes her return to the charts with "King of the Mountain" from her first album to be released in 12 years at No. 4. Elsewhere, Robbie Williams' "Tripping" moves from number four to number five, though his album "Intensive Care" is still the king of the album chart.
