Wisteria Lane is coming back to life, but with fresh faces and new mysteries. Young audiences, get ready for a dramatic, sexy, and darkly comedic ride involving a group of new 'Desperate Housewives'.

AceShowbiz - Die-hard fans of "Desperate Housewives" have reason to celebrate: The beloved melodrama is being revived in a spin-off currently in development at Onyx Collective, the Disney-owned content brand.

Titled "Wisteria Lane", this new series promises to capture the same fun, sexy, and darkly comedic vibe of its predecessor, but with timely updates and a fresh group of characters.

"Scandal" star Kerry Washington is attached as an executive producer, via her production company, Simpson Street. Also onboard is c=Natalie Chaidez], co-showrunner of "The Flight Attendant", who will serve as writer and executive producer.

The show is envisioned to focus on the private and public lives of Wisteria Lane's eclectic residents, where, behind the white picket fences and perfect Instagram posts, secrets abound.

Originally created by Marc Cherry, "Desperate Housewives" had a successful run from 2004 to 2012, starring Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, and Nicollette Sheridan. The series amassed seven Emmys and three Golden Globes over its eight seasons.

Marc Cherry himself has mulled over his own revival, though with a different creative direction. "I would probably want to do the idea maybe in an earlier decade," he mused, even considering a setting like 1966 for a fresh take.

While Cherry is not involved in "Wisteria Lane", the original stars have mixed feelings about a reboot - Eva Longoria previously said she would "be the first to sign up" if a remake was being made while Teri Hatcher was more reserved about returning.

While casting for the new series remains under wraps, the original set of "Wisteria Lane" still stands on the Universal backlot, a nostalgic touchstone for fans. If the project moves beyond development, "Wisteria Lane" will air on Onyx Collective and stream on Hulu, poised to draw in a new generation of viewers excited for suburban melodrama.

Whether the spin-off will match the impact of the original remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: the allure of secrets behind suburban perfection is as captivating as ever.
