Jessica Alba stands up for the recent Blue Origin space flight as backlash from celebrities like Olivia Munn, Emily Ratajkowski, and Olivia Wilde intensifies.

AceShowbiz - The recent Blue Origin space flight, which featured an all-female crew, sparked a heated debate within the public sphere. Jessica Alba has stepped in to defend the 10-minute voyage amid increasing criticism from various celebrities.

The historic journey carried notable figures such as Lauren Sánchez, Katy Perry, Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, Aisha Bowe, and Amanda Nguyen.

On Instagram, Alba reposted a message from political strategist Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, emphasizing that critics should redirect their energy towards more pressing issues, such as denouncing former President Donald Trump.

"I've seen endless criticisms of 5 women doing their space thing, I can't see how it affects our lives," Navarro-Cardenas' message read. Alba echoed this sentiment by simply captioning the post with "this."

On the opposite end of the spectrum, model Emily Ratajkowski expressed her disdain for the expedition. In a TikTok rant, Ratajkowski criticized Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, accusing him of using exploitation and greed to amass his wealth.

She argued that the space trip, with its high-profile female passengers, was not an accomplishment and likened it to "The Hunger Games" scenario.

"Seeing women and people of color in spaces like science and politics, that have not previously included them, feels and looks like progress," she noted. "But the truth is that having a man, who has gained his power and become a part of the one percent purely through exploitation and greed, deciding to take his fiancée and a few other famous women into space for space tourism is not progress."

Olivia Wilde and Olivia Munn echoed Ratajkowski's sentiments, with Wilde sharing a photo of Perry kissing the ground upon her return, sarcastically captioning it, "Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess."

Munn questioned the purpose of the trip while appearing on "Today With Jenna And Friends," asking, "What are they doing? Like why?" She referred to the mission as akin to a Disneyland ride and suggested the space travelers should have used their platform for more meaningful endeavors.

On top of that, Amy Schumer cracked a joke about bringing her superhero toy on her own space mission. "It has no meaning to me, but it was in my bag," she quipped, seemingly mimicking Katy Perry who brought a daisy to space.

Despite the backlash, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez defended their decision to participate in the flight.

King claimed Bezos' space tourism could help explore ways to tackle Earth's waste problem by looking towards outer space solutions while Sanchez invited critics to witness firsthand the dedication of Blue Origin's employees, who are deeply invested in the mission's goals.

Blue Origin's NS-31 mission, marking the first all-female crewed flight since 1963, involved the New Shepard Rocket taking the capsule to the edge of space. The capsule then returned safely to Earth, landing within driving distance of the launch platform in Texas.
