AceShowbiz - Hailee Steinfeld found herself in a tough spot on the "Hot Ones Versus" series on April 2. Her "Sinners" co-star, the ever-charismatic Michael B. Jordan, challenged her to compliment the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that has repeatedly dashed her fiance Josh Allen's Super Bowl dreams.
"Anger the Bills Mafia by saying three nice things about their rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs," Jordan, 38, playfully prompted her while two stars were enduring blazing hot wings on camera.
Steinfeld reluctantly responded, "I can find nice things to say about anybody, even if I don't like them - even if we don't like them," setting the stage for her painstakingly chosen compliments.
Her first "nice" observation was met with laughter by Jordan, "Yellow and red really complement them all pretty well." The sardonic tone was hard to miss.
Steinfeld's second statement drew further giggles. "They are very loud," she noted, as Jordan interjected, "That's nice." For her third compliment, Steinfeld stretched her creativity to its limits, "They go hard for their team."
Steinfeld and Allen, both of whom are 28, revealed their engagement last November, stepping into the public eye as one of sports' sweetheart couples after being spotted together in early 2023.
Steinfeld's joy in her engagement was palpable. "I'm so happy - we're so happy - and we're just soaking in every moment," she shared with PEOPLE magazine.
Allen proposed to Steinfeld in Malibu, a cherished location for the couple. "It was magical," Steinfeld wrote on Instagram, celebrating their engagement in what she described as her "happy place."
Following her engagement, Steinfeld has been warmly welcomed by the Buffalo fanbase, crowned the "Queen" of Buffalo. Her unwavering support for Allen is evident as she frequently attends his games, cheering on the NFL MVP in their bid to end the Bills' Super Bowl drought.
It's a rivalry that runs deep: the Bills have been ousted from the playoffs by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs four times in the last five seasons. Yet, Steinfeld's playfully awkward compliments on "Hot Ones Versus" showcase that even in rivalry, a little humor can go a long way.
