Award-winning actress Amanda Seyfried candidly opens up about her experiences and challenges while filming the iconic musical, 'Les Miserables,' revealing a mix of triumph and regret.

AceShowbiz - Amanda Seyfried reflected on her role as Cosette in the acclaimed 2012 film "Les Miserables". The epic period musical, directed by Tom Hooper, demanded live singing from its cast - a requirement Seyfried found both thrilling and daunting.

In an interview with GQ, Seyfried described her time on "Les Misérables" as an "incredible" experience, noting the collective happiness of the cast and crew. She reminisced, "Les Mis was an incredible movie. I loved it. The costumes, the people… We were all really happy to be there."

However, she confessed that she found the live singing aspect demanding and frustrating. "I, unfortunately, was not technically ready or capable of the live singing in the way that I would've liked to be," Seyfried reflected.

"The process was infuriating. I knew what I had to sing, but they were hard songs. And the acting part of it came naturally and I loved it," she continued. Seyfried also expressed concerns about her accent although she admitted it was the "least of her worries."

Comparing herself to her castmates, Seyfried felt she lagged behind in musical prowess. "It didn't hit the mark the way Eddie was hitting it and the way Samantha Barks is - I mean, she's miles better than all of us, technically," Seyfried told GQ. Speaking of Anne Hathaway, she added, "Even when she's crying… it was perfect. It's what made that movie f***ing fly."

Despite her self-assessment, Seyfried's vocal performance has been well-regarded in other musical endeavors. Her role as Sophie Sheridan in "Mamma Mia!" and its sequel "Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again" showcased her singing talents, impressing audiences worldwide.

Looking back, Seyfried acknowledged, "I was lacking in a way that I really wish I hadn't been and that's a regret I have."

She humorously mentioned that many people think she's being overly critical of herself, but she remains convinced of her perspective. "I know what I would've liked to sound like. I would've liked to sound like I sound now," she noted.

Beyond "Les Misérables", Seyfried has remained active and successful in her career. She recently executive produced and starred in the limited series "Long Bright River", which is now streaming on Peacock. While discussing future projects, she hinted at a potential "Mamma Mia! 3", saying, "Producer Judy Craymer is always working on it, but Universal still has to release Wicked 2."

Seyfried continues to captivate audiences with her performances, balancing her profound talent with an endearing candidness about her journey in the industry.
