AceShowbiz - Lady Gaga recalled in details her unique engagement to fiance Michael Polansky. In a series of interviews, the "Poker Face" singer, 38, shared the touching details of her engagement story that began with a simple blade of grass.
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, remembered the moment Polansky, 41, asked her an endearing question before he proposed. "He said to me, 'If I ever proposed to you, how do I do that?' " she recounted during an interview with E! News.
Gaga's response was both unconventional and meaningful, "Just get a blade of grass from the backyard and wrap it around my finger." To her delight, Polansky did exactly that when he proposed on April 1.
The sentimental act didn't stop there. Alongside the blade of grass ring, Polansky also presented Gaga with a stunning oval-cut diamond ring, valued between $500,000 and $2 million.
"He got me two rings and one of them was the blade of grass and that’s the first one he proposed with," she told the "Howard Stern Show" in a separate occasion.
Despite the considerable value of the diamond ring, Gaga cherishes the blade of grass just as much, if not more. "I love them both," she said. "But the blade of grass, you can't replace something that has a meaning like that."
Gaga's newest album, "Mayhem," features a song that encapsulates this tender moment. Appropriately titled "Blade of Grass," its chorus goes, "Come on and wrap that blade of grass / Around my finger like a cast … I've been so lonely in this field / Fighting a battle with no shield / Come on and wrap that blade of grass / And we'll make it last."
The pair started dating back in 2019 and were seen together at numerous high-profile events. They spent the pandemic together at Gaga's Malibu home, further strengthening their bond. Polansky has even contributed creatively to Gaga's recent work, having several writing credits on "Mayhem."
While Gaga has kept her wedding plans under wraps, she teased fans with possibilities ranging from a courthouse visit followed by Chinese food to a grand, playful ceremony. No matter the form, it's clear their wedding, like their engagement, will be personal and full of love.
As young people look up to Lady Gaga for her authenticity and creativity, her engagement story with Michael Polansky serves as a beautiful reminder that love can be found in the simplest gestures.
