AceShowbiz - When music producer Benny Blanco and pop icon Selena Gomez collaborate, the results are amazing - in the studio, at least. However, when the duo decided to test their chemistry in a more unconventional setting, with Blanco trying to do her makeup, it led to hilarious consequences.
In a Instagram video shared on March 6, Gomez gives Blanco free reign over her Rare Beauty products for a spontaneous makeover session. The "Only Murders in the Building" star appeared both amused and apprehensive as Blanco embarked on his artistic experiment, starting off with a winded attempt that sent their camera crashing to the floor.
Despite a rocky start, Gomez showed encouragement as Blanco dusted her face with pressed powder, saying, "That's good, babe! Now I'm proud." But things went off the rails again when Blanco grabbed a pigmented liquid bronzer. His uncertainty was evident as he asked Gomez, who by then had shut her eyes in trepidation, "What is this called? What am I contouring?"
The "Eastside" producer struggled to blend the bronzer, his efforts resulting in an uneven spread of deep brown liquid across Gomez's face. Things didn't get easier as Blanco layered additional products like liquid blush, highlighter, and lip oil, much to Gomez's amusement mixed with discomfort.
Eventually, Blanco felt satisfied with his work, reflecting, "I really think I'm onto something, like if I blend these two together. I think it looks pretty good. You look so hot."
However, Gomez's facial expression at the end suggested she didn't exactly share his enthusiasm. Despite the results, the official Rare Beauty account humorously commented, "@bennyblanco you're hired." Meanwhile Blanco commented, "I feel like i did pretty well."
Gomez's "Emilia Perez" co-star Zoe Saldana wrote, "This has to be trend!!! Hahahahahahahaha." The official page for Hulu, where "Only Murders in the Building" is airing, praised Blanco, "A for effort."
While Blanco's beauty skills may need some refining, his musical collaboration with Gomez has been nothing short of a success. The couple, who began dating in the summer of 2023 and got engaged a year and a half later, are set to release their joint album titled "I Said I Love You First" on March 21.
The 14-track project includes previously released singles "Scared of Loving You" and "Call Me When You Break Up" featuring Gracie Abrams.
Announcing the album on their second Valentine's Day, Gomez shared with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, "The project is a little taste of what we are and how we made this together, and how much we loved it and how much we love each other."
So, while Blanco may need more practice with a blush brush, his prowess in the recording studio remains indisputably high, and fans can soon enjoy the fruits of their recent musical efforts.
