Howie Mandel Apologizes to Bill Burr for Uncomfortable 'Family Reunion' With Billy Corgan

An unexpected twist on Howie Mandel's podcast led to a fallout with stand-up comedian Bill Burr, pushing the 'American's Got Talent' judge to issue an apology. What went wrong?

AceShowbiz - Howie Mandel issued a public apology to Bill Burr and Billy Corgan following an awkward incident during an episode on his podcast last month. The "America's Got Talent" judge wanted to surprise Bill Burr, but things didn't go as planned.

During the episode in question, Mandel introduced Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins as Burr's possible half-brother. This came after Corgan revealed in a previous episode that his father, formerly a traveling musician, could have potentially fathered Burr, who's almost the same age as Corgan.

The episode, titled "Family Reunion with Bill Burr & Billy Corgan," spiraled downhill from the start. Burr's reaction was immediate and hostile, as he told Mandel, "You're an a**hole," clearly upset by the unexpected and uncomfortable situation.

On a recent episode of the podcast, Mandel reiterated to his daughter and co-host, Jackie, and guests, twin comedians Randy and Jason Sklar, that he didn't mean any harm. "I want to apologize," Mandel stated, expressing his remorse. "I feel horrible, and I'm sorry, Bill. I'm sorry, Billy. I only tried to do something good."

Mandel said he tried to reach out to Burr, but got no response. "Bill Burr has not peeped," he revealed. "I texted him and said, 'Good episode.' Didn't answer. I said, 'Is there anything I can do to further this, to follow up'? No answer."

Mandel's apology came after Bill Burr called out the host on "The Rich Eisen Show." Feeling blindsided by "all that weirdness," the comedian clarified that while he's upset with Mandel, he was not angry at Corgan. "Billy's fine. That's the first time I ever met him and it was fine or whatever, but I did not appreciate what Howie did," he explained. "Not at all."

However, Bill Burr insisted he didn't hold any grudge, "He's Howie, so he's sorta hard to hate," the actor said. "How do you hate a germophobe? He's like, not threatening. He just walks with his arms in so he doesn't rub against curtains that he owns … He's a strange man."
