AceShowbiz - Hot on heels of her Grammy win, Lady GaGa unveiled the music video for "Abracadabra," a single from her album "Mayhem." The video pays homage to Gaga's earlier hit "Alejandro" through its color scheme, dance routines, and religious imagery.
The video features a dance battle between the light and dark sides within Gaga, represented by the character Mayhem. Gaga's dancers hoist her high above their heads in a similar fashion to the "Alejandro" video, and crosses are used throughout as a symbol of religious conflict.
Gaga also emphasized the importance of LGBTQ community in the "Abracadabra" video, featuring queer ballroom artists like Honey Balenciaga. "Category is: dance or die," the singer dressed in red declared in the opening scene before the dance mayhem begins.
Lady Gaga is set to release her new album on March 7. While the LP marks her return to her pop roots, she said it's actually an "utter chaos" with a mix of "90s alternative, electro-grunge, Prince and Bowie melodies, guitar and attitude, funky bass lines, French electronic dance, and analog synths."
As a prelude to her new creation, she released a collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Die With a Smile", that earned the duo a Golden Gramophone for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
"My 14th Grammy award is a very special one. Being a songwriter, all I want to do is tell stories that touch peoples hearts. Telling this story with Bruno about love is truly a piece of my soul—love is what we all need right now. Thank you little monsters - wherever you go that's where I'll follow," GaGa gushed on Instagram.
