'Dune: Part Two' actor Josh Brolin isn't staying silent about the Oscar snub against director Denis Villeneuve, showing support for the filmmaker while extending his congratulations to the rest of the crew for their nominations.

AceShowbiz - "Dune: Part Two" actor Josh Brolin has made no secret of his disappointment regarding the recent Oscar snub of the film's director, Denis Villeneuve. When the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced, Villeneuve was conspicuously absent from the Best Director category, prompting Brolin to express his frustration and double down on his vow to quit acting.

In a heartfelt Instagram story, Brolin stated, "Apparently, I am going to quit acting because Denis Villeneuve was not nominated. This is just how this thing works. It makes no sense to me."

This declaration echoes his earlier comments from November 2024, where he proclaimed that he would leave acting if Villeneuve did not receive the nod. Brolin added, "It was a better movie than the first one. When I watched it, it felt like my brain was broken open. It's masterful, and Denis is one of our master filmmakers."

This year, "Dune: Part Two" garnered only five nominations, a stark contrast to the ten nominations received by its predecessor. The sequel was recognized in categories such as Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, and Best Sound.

While disappointed over Villeneuve snub, Brolin showed support for the cast and crew for the multiple nods, "Just want to say congratulations on the 'Dune' best picture nomination, to Greig Fraser on cinematography, for best visual effects, for Patrice [Vermett] on production design and for sound."

"[Editor] Joe Walker and Denis, you deserve it. It's an amazing film. It was even better than the first one. The people who have gotten accolades surely deserve it. Happy to be a part of it. Congrats everyone."

Although Villeneuve did not secure a Best Director nomination, he remains credited as a producer for the Best Picture nod, offering a sliver of hope for an Oscar win. With Villeneuve planning to develop "Dune: Messiah", there's anticipation that the Academy might eventually recognize his contributions to the franchise.
