AceShowbiz - Amidst swirling rumors and media speculation about their relationship, "Game of Thrones" alum Carice van Houten confirmed her split from Guy Pearce. She said they have not been a couple for several years.
Her remarks came after Pearce referred to his ex-wife, Kate Mestitz, as the "greatest love of my life" in a recent interview with The Guardian. "My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I've moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte," he said.
Kate Mestitz was Guy Pearce's childhood sweetheart when they got married in 1997. Unfortunately, their marriage crumbled in 2015 after more than a decade.
Van Houten took to Instagram to clarify the status of their relationship, "I don't usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear," she wrote.
"He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven't been a 'couple' for years. Sorry not to mention it earlier," she added.
The former couple first met in 2015 on the set of the psychological Western "Brimstone" and welcomed their son, Monte, in 2016. Despite their split, they have maintained a close friendship and effective co-parenting relationship. In her statement, van Houten noted, "I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives - our beautiful son and his hamster."
Pearce is currently celebrating his first-ever Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his work in "The Brutalist", a milestone that van Houten surely shares in celebrating as part of their amicable relationship.
