Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, who has faced several health issues in recent years, has been hospitalized after developing a fever, according to his office.

AceShowbiz - p>Former President Bill Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Monday, December 23, due to a fever. According to his deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena, Clinton is currently undergoing testing and observation.

Urena stated that Clinton "remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving." An unnamed source told NBC News that the situation is "not urgent" and that the former president "is expected to be home for Christmas."

The source explained, "The former president will be fine. He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert."

Clinton, 78, has faced several health issues in recent years. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery. In 2005, he returned to the hospital for surgery for a partially collapsed lung, and in 2010, he had a pair of stents implanted in a coronary artery.

Despite his health challenges, Clinton has continued to play an active role in politics, addressing the Democratic National Convention this past summer and campaigning for Democratic candidates.

Clinton served as president from 1993 to 2001. He is married to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the couple has one daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
