AceShowbiz - SAG-AFTRA, the union representing approximately 160,000 actors in Hollywood, has expressed its support for Blake Lively following her filing of a s**ual harassment complaint against Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director on "It Ends With Us".
"These are startling and troubling allegations. Employees have every right to raise issues of concern or to file complaints. Retaliation for reporting misconduct or inappropriate behavior is illegal and wrong," the organization stated. "We applaud Blake Lively's courage in speaking out on issues of retaliation and harassment and for her request to have an intimacy coordinator for all scenes with n***ty or s**ual content. This is an important step that helps ensure a safe set."
According to the complaint, in January, a meeting was held to address Lively's concerns about returning to the set after the actors and writers strikes, which had paused production. Lively alleged that Baldoni had discussed her weight with her trainer, pressed her to disclose her religious beliefs, and engaged in inappropriate conversations about his s** life. She also claimed that both Baldoni and Jamey Heath, a producer of the film, entered her makeup trailer without permission, even when she was b***stfeeding her infant child.
Lively's complaint states that her concerns extended not only to herself but also to other female cast and crew members who had also spoken up. SAG-AFTRA urges anyone experiencing similar misconduct to report such violations to the organization and their employer.
"We all have a right to be treated with dignity and respect on the job and to work in an environment free of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation," the union emphasized.
