AceShowbiz - Former President Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary, their daughter Chelsea, and granddaughter Charlotte, found themselves captivated by Taylor Swift's electrifying performance during her Eras Tour concert in Toronto, Canada last weekend. This was Clinton's first time witnessing the Grammy-winning artist live, and the experience left a lasting impression on the former politician.
Speaking on Monday's episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark," Clinton shared his newfound admiration for Swift. When co-host Kelly Ripa asked, "Confirm or deny –– did you see Taylor Swift over the weekend?" Clinton enthusiastically confirmed. Cameras then cut to a clip of the 78-year-old dancing in a VIP suite to Swift's hit song "You Belong with Me."
"I get it now," Clinton said during the interview, as he described his experience of the concert. "I mean, I understand why she has such an impact on people and why a lot of these young girls are so captivated." He marveled at Swift's stamina and dedication, noting that she performed for "three-plus hours straight" without breaks, an aspect he found particularly respectful to the audience.
Clinton's praise did not stop there. He recounted the joyous scenes at the concert where young fans, including his granddaughter, sang along to every word. "I was fascinated watching our crowd of kids, especially my granddaughter, standing there with the wife of one of Chelsea's friends from 20-plus years ago and her daughters, and all of them up there singing and they all knew the words to all the songs," he shared, emphasizing the transcendent connection Swift establishes with her audience.
During the show, Clinton was asked by Ripa if he considered leveraging his status for backstage access. Laughing, he responded, "Actually, they didn't, and I probably couldn't have. And we didn't, but you know, the venues are so big, you got to walk across a football field to get to backstage."
