AceShowbiz - On Wednesday, December 11, Savannah rapper Tyquian Bowman, known as Quando Rondo, was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana in August.
U.S. District Court Judge R. Stan Baker ordered Bowman to pay a $40,000 fine and serve three years of supervised release after his prison term. During that time, he will be subject to regular drug testing, mental health treatment, and educational training, as well as a prohibition on contact with known gang members.
Bowman's sentence came as the result of a plea deal that dropped a more serious charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana, which carried a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison. In the plea deal, prosecutors agreed that a wire tap captured a phone conversation in which Bowman expressed a desire to have nothing to do with fentanyl pills.
Bowman's defense attorney had requested a sentence of 24 months, while prosecutors sought 37 months. Rondo expressed gratitude for the sentencing, stating that it would provide him with time for rehabilitation and planning for the future.
In addition to the drug conspiracy charge, Bowman faces an open DUI case, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He has also been linked to a murder-for-hire plot allegedly orchestrated by Chicago rapper Lil Durk, who has been charged in connection with the 2020 shooting death of Bowman's cousin.
Bowman will begin serving his prison sentence on January 10, 2025, either at Estill or Jesup prisons. His sentence is concurrent with any potential sentences related to the DUI case or the murder-for-hire plot.
