AceShowbiz - Billie Eilish, the Grammy-winning singer, has candidly discussed her struggles with body image and its impact on her fashion evolution. In a recent interview with Complex, she revealed that her early obsession with the one-size-only clothing brand Brandy Melville led her to develop body problems.
Growing up, Eilish loved big dresses and skirts, but at around age 11, she became fixated on Brandy Melville. Her obsession grew, but the clothes often didn't fit her. This, coupled with her early physical development and participation in ballet, contributed to her body dissatisfaction.
To cope, Eilish turned to baggy clothes to conceal her body. However, as her career gained momentum, she faced criticism for her style, with some claiming she didn't look like a traditional woman. In response, she adopted a hyper-feminine wardrobe to defy critics.
"I had to completely reverse everything and be this girly girl for a second," Eilish said. "I wanted to prove a point, 'F**k you guys. I can do whatever I want.' "
While she admits her wardrobe transformation was extreme, Eilish feels grateful for the experience. It allowed her to regain control over her body and dispel the societal expectations that had been imposed on her.
Eilish continues to grapple with the constant criticism she receives about her body, but she has developed a stronger sense of self-love and confidence. Her fashion journey has been a testament to her resilience and her unwillingness to conform to societal norms.
