AceShowbiz - On "The View", co-host Whoopi Goldberg, 69, theorized that JD Vance, 40, is merely an interim Vice President while Elon Musk exerts significant influence within the Donald Trump administration. Goldberg questioned why Musk, despite his close ties to Trump, has not divested himself of his social media platform, X.
"I believe Elon Musk is the actual vice president. Yes, I believe that," Goldberg said. "Vance is kind of an interim. But I believe that Musk, he's the real actual vice president. He's making decisions, he's doing things."
Trump and Musk have reportedly become close allies, attending UFC matches and family meals together. Musk has also participated in administration transition team calls with world leaders and weighed in on staffing decisions.
During the election, Musk's son, also named X, joined the Trump family photo at the behest of Trump. The Trump family has reportedly referred to Musk as an "uncle."
A Trump-Vance transition spokesperson suggested that Musk and Trump are close friends and work together to advance America's interests. Musk has been a frequent topic of conversation on Trump's campaign trail, with Trump praising his space-related feats.
Trump recently appointed Musk as one of the heads of his newly created Department of Government Efficiency. Goldberg believes this role further solidifies Musk's position as Trump's de facto vice president.
"It's a bromance," a Mar-a-Lago resort member said. "And they are having a blast."
During a discussion on "The View" about liberals leaving X for Bluesky, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin lamented the deepening division in the country. Goldberg blamed conservatives for driving liberals away with bullying and harassment.
Goldberg also cited Musk's appointment to Trump's cabinet as a reason for the exodus of Republican users from X. She suggested that Musk's different views from mainstream Republicans may have contributed to their departure.
"He should give up X," co-host Sunny Hostin said, referring to Musk's dual role in the government and as the owner of a major social media platform.
