Olga Solovey, the mother of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, criticizes Alec Baldwin for failing to apologize or take responsibility for her daughter's accidental death on the set of 'Rust'.

AceShowbiz - Production on the Western film "Rust" was paused in October 2021 when a prop gun being held by Alec Baldwin discharged, killing Hutchins, who was just 42, and injuring director Joel Souza. The movie ultimately wrapped filming in May 2023.

"Rust" is set to premiere at the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival in Poland on Wednesday, November 20. However, Hutchins' mother, Olga Solovey, announced she will not be attending and lambasted Baldwin for "increasing my pain."

In a statement, Solovey said, "Alec Baldwin continues to increase my pain with his refusal to apologize to me and his refusal to take responsibility for her death. Instead, he seeks to unjustly profit from his killing of my daughter. That is the reason why I refuse to attend the festival for the promotion of Rust, especially now when there is still no justice for my daughter. "

Baldwin's trial for involuntary manslaughter was dismissed in August after a judge ruled evidence had been mishandled. The 'Boss Baby' star has repeatedly maintained that he did not pull the trigger of the gun or know why it contained live ammunition.

Despite the legal proceedings, Olga Solovey believes that the family deserves an apology from Baldwin. Her statement was echoed by attorney Gloria Allred, who represents the family. Allred said, "Alec Baldwin has disrespected Halyna's mother, father, and sister. Even though Mr. Baldwin discharged the gun that killed Halyna, he has never called them to apologize."

The premiere of "Rust" at the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival has sparked controversy within the film industry. Many of Hutchins' former peers have publicly expressed concerns about the appropriateness of holding such an event given the circumstances of her death.

Despite the objections, the screening of "Rust" is set to take place as scheduled on Wednesday. However, it will be held at a smaller satellite venue instead of the festival's main cinema hub. Baldwin will not be in attendance.

The film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting.
