'The Real Housewives of Potomac' star Ashley Darby gets candid about her emotional struggles as she navigates the complexities of her lengthy divorce from Michael Darby.

AceShowbiz - Ashley Darby, known for her vibrant presence on "The Real Housewives of Potomac," has been deeply candid about the emotional upheavals she has experienced during her extended separation from her estranged husband, Michael Darby. In a recent interview with Page Six's "Virtual Reali-Tea," the 36-year-old star revealed that the journey has been far from easy, describing the period as one of grieving.

"It's hard out here, OK? I wish that I could put a time stamp on it that everyone wants me to in relation to this divorce. It is so emotional for me. It's a point of grieving," Ashley explained.

The reality TV star and the Australian businessman, who share two young sons, Dean, 5, and Dylan, 3, publicly announced their separation in April 2022 after eight tumultuous years of marriage. However, it wasn't until June of this year that the divorce papers were signed, marking a delay that took a significant toll on Ashley.

Opening up about her mental health, Ashley shared,

"I even went through a little bit of a depression of, like, thinking about where my life is now versus where I thought it was going to be and coming to terms with that."

Despite the initial urge to appear strong and nonchalant, the reality of the separation hit her hard.

"As much as I wanted to just be a bad b***h and be like, 'Yeah!' - in actuality, it was still really hurting me," Ashley admitted in the interview.

Ashley's divorce journey has been complicated further by Maryland's strict laws, requiring a period of separation before proceedings could advance. Friends also noted that her lingering physical relationship with Michael temporarily stalled the divorce.

Yet, amid all this, Ashley has seen brighter days and revealed she has made considerable strides towards closure. She mentioned taking a "very big step" recently although she chose to keep the specifics under wraps.

"I will say that now, I'm in a much better place. I did something very big actually this [month]. I shed a tear or two, but I'm feeling good otherwise," she stated.

Support has been crucial for Ashely during this challenging time. She leaned on therapy and close friends, particularly noting the unwavering support from her pal Cory. His intuitive sense always seemed to lift her spirits when she felt down, often encouraging her to dress up, go out, and flirt to rediscover her confidence.

Although briefly linked to "Summer House" star Luke Gulbranson after her separation, Ashley has embraced single life while staying open to new possibilities. Her participation in a "Real Housewives" dating series filmed earlier this year signifies her readiness to explore new relationships and even test drive metaphorical "cars" in her journey to find the right partner.
