AceShowbiz - Lebron James, an NBA superstar turning 40, has managed to maintain his elite athletic performance through an alleged $1.5 million annual biohacking routine. Despite the rumors, the "King" hints that dedication and time matter more than the money.
LeBron James has defied the odds, playing his 22nd NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Vince Carter remains the only other player to have reached such a milestone, doing so without a guaranteed role. How has LeBron maintained such an elite level of performance and physical condition?
On Netflix's new docuseries, "Starting 5", James finally addressed the long-standing rumors. "I've heard this crazy notion about how much money I spend on my body each year," he said. "I kind of just chuckle. That is a number that I will not disclose, but, more importantly, I think it's just the time."
The roots of these rumors date back to 2016 when sportswriter Bill Simmons claimed on his podcast that James spends $1.5 million annually on his body. "LeBron spends like a million and a half dollars a year on his body... Everything he does in his life is constructed to have him play basketball and to stay on the court and to be as healthy as possible," Simmons said.
Chief among James' recovery methods is "biohacking," a practice popularized by entrepreneur Dave Asprey. This routine includes cryotherapy, hyperbaric chamber sessions, red light therapy, and more. These treatments aim to reduce inflammation, enhance blood flow, and boost energy.
