AceShowbiz - Liam Payne's friend, who has remained unidentified but claimed to be his manager, faces charges of abandonment for allegedly failing to notify Payne's family of his drug relapse after his death on October 16. The friend was reportedly contacted by hotel management after Payne fell from a hotel balcony but did not respond. He now faces a prison sentence of five to 15 years.
Additionally, a hotel employee and an alleged drug dealer have been charged with supplying Payne with narcotics. The identities of these suspects have not been released. The hotel employee is believed to have contacted the drug dealer to obtain illegal substances for Payne.
The investigation into Payne's death has been ongoing for weeks. Police have conducted raids, reviewed security footage, and seized items of interest from the hotel. Investigators believe that Payne's tragic fall was preceded by erratic behavior and drug ingestion.
A toxicology report revealed that Payne had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine, ketamine, and a prescription antidepressant. Prosecutors have ruled out suicide, stating that Payne's state of consciousness and lack of defensive reflexes indicate that he was not fully aware of his actions.
Payne's body has been repatriated to the U.K. for burial. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, with authorities seeking to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
