AceShowbiz - In the wake of Donald Trump's re-election in the 2024 presidential race, many have turned to social media to voice their discontent and search for comfort. Among these voices is singer-songwriter Maren Morris, who provided her followers with a poignant snippet of an unreleased song that struck a chord with her fans on a difficult day.
"Unreleased song I felt like sharing on this day," Morris wrote on her Instagram Stories. Accompanied by a delicate piano, her lyrics reflected the emotional landscape for many, "Feels like the worst year's always the one you're in/ Haven't heard a 'hallelujah,' but I ain't been listenin."
This release follows another recent single, "People Still Show Up", which dropped late last month. Morris described it as "vibey and fun," aiming to lift spirits during a tense election year. She urged her fans, "SHOW UP for yourself and your family (born or chosen) and vote."
Morris is not alone in expressing disappointment over the election results. Artists like Billie Eilish and Cardi B have also been vocal, with Eilish dubbing the result "a war on women" and Cardi B bluntly stating, "I hate y'all bad." Ethel Cain sent a similarly strong message to Trump supporters, expressing a hope for reckoning and self-reflection.
Morris had been a stalwart supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, even performing her protest anthem "Better Than We Found It" at the Democratic National Convention in August. Her recent funk track, "People Still Show Up", was also used to galvanize voters on social media in the lead-up to the election.
Despite the current political climate, Morris continues to maintain a busy schedule. This summer saw the release of her EP "Intermission", following her 2022 full-length album "Humble Quest". She is currently on tour with upcoming dual shows in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a stop in Orlando, Florida.
