AceShowbiz - LeBron James is another celebrity who is disheartened by the outcome of the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The legendary basketball player has taken to social media to share a heartfelt plea to his daughter following Kamala Harris' defeat to Donald Trump.
After it became apparent that the former president won the election, the NBA star immediately thought of his only daughter Zhuri James. In his Wednesday, November 6 post, he shared an image of him carrying his 10-year-old daughter with a promise to "protect" her with all his might.
"HEAVY ON MY HEART & MIND THIS AM MY PRINCESS !! PROMISE TO PROTECT YOU WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE AND MORE!!" the Los Angeles Lakers player wrote in the caption. He added, "WE DONT NEED THEIR HELP!"
Prior to the Election Day, James made it clear whom he was supporting in the election. In an Instagram post uploaded in late October, he shared a montage of racist jokes made by Trump, interspersed with clips of civil rights protests.
The 39-year-old athlete captioned the post with, "What are we even talking about here? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me." He added, "VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!"
James' sentiment over the election results was echoed by many other celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande. Gomez posted on her Story a quote by Audre Lorde, a black writer, professor, philosopher, intersectional feminist, poet and civil rights activist who dedicated her life and talents to confronting different forms of injustice.
"I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own," read the quote written over a pale pink background. Seemingly borrowing the quote to express her concerns about the fate of women in the U.S. under Trump's upcoming presidency, she added in her caption, "My heart is heavy today."
Meanwhile, Eilish has denounced Trump's victory as "a war on women." Grande shared a message of support to fellow Harris supporters, writing, "Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today."
