This revelation about the British monarch comes from an updated edition of the book 'Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story', which is authored by Robert Hardman.

AceShowbiz - King Charles III, prior to his diagnosis with cancer in February 2024, had undergone a "cancer scare" some years earlier, according to a new royal biography. A passage in the updated edition of "Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story", by Robert Hardman, mentions that the King had previously feared he might have cancer, as revealed by a former member of his team from his Prince of Wales days.

The book also notes that Charles' involvement with various cancer organizations and charities over the decades gave him a deeper understanding of the disease. Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the revelation.

Before becoming King in 2022, Charles held the title of Prince of Wales for 64 years, from 1958 until his mother, Queen Elizabeth II's, passing. The updated version of Hardman's book highlights the historic nature of Buckingham Palace's announcement about Charles' treatment for an enlarged prostate in January 2024, as it marked a departure from traditional royal practice of not releasing detailed health updates.

Furthermore, the book reveals that there was little internal debate about whether to announce Charles' cancer diagnosis. According to a member of the King's staff, "After the earlier announcement about his prostate, it was actually an easy decision to say, 'Well, that's what we do these days.'" The staff member also expressed a belief that the public had a right to know about Charles' condition, while acknowledging the need for privacy.

The book details the King's own decision to share his diagnosis publicly to prevent speculation and foster understanding among individuals affected by cancer. The announcement of the King's cancer diagnosis coincided with his return to public engagements in April 2024, including a visit to a cancer treatment center in London. The palace confirmed at the time that Charles' treatment was ongoing.

Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Camilla and her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, has since described the King as "strong" and following the advice of his doctors.
