Former TV host Ruby Rose suggests she has a bombshell story about John Mayer from her MTV days, and she saves it for her upcoming memoir. Here's what we know so far!

AceShowbiz - Ruby Rose, known for her candidness and edgy persona, recently teased a sensational anecdote involving John Mayer, promising to reveal it in her forthcoming memoir. "I have the wildest John Mayer story from my MTV days. It takes everything in my [sic] to save it for the book," Ruby, 38, wrote via Instagram Threads on Wednesday, October 15.

Back in 2009, Ruby, then an MTV Australia VJ, interviewed John Mayer about his fourth studio album, "Battle Studies", for Australia's talk show "The 7pm Project". The interview turned heads, not just because of Mayer's new album, but due to his interaction with Ruby. The "Gravity" singer appeared to be deeply engaged, even placing his hand on Ruby's while telling a story and gazing into her eyes.

The clip was later shared on YouTube, sparking debates among fans. One commented, "He's flirting with her, this is how he flirts, making sarcastic jokes…etc. if you didn't pay attention you might just think he's being funny but he's flirting with her." Another countered, "If you people knew John a little better, you'd know this is his personality. Lol. He's not trying to impress Ruby … He's just a big dork."

However, the moment that generated the most buzz was when John referred to Ruby as "white Rihanna." This comment left viewers puzzled and some fans fuming, reconsidering Mayer's quirky sense of humor. "He called the girl 'white Rihanna'? Lol, that was weird. His humor is weird and offbeat. He's an oddball," a fan remarked. At that time, both Ruby and Rihanna sported edgy, pixie hairstyles.

Ruby's journey from young VJ to prominent actor has been both public and tumultuous. In February 2023, she made headlines with the announcement of her upcoming memoir, hinting it would be rife with revelations.

Reflecting on her evolution, she told The Guardian, "A couple of years ago, I might not even have felt as open to have this interview right now … and now I'm just like, I'll just talk. I'll just be myself, whichever way it gets received, or whichever way people take it or twist it."

Ruby's MTV days were packed with memorable moments, from interviewing rock legends like Slash to amusing incidents with Wu-Tang Clan that had her high on laughter (and possibly more). "We were in this tiny, little pot box - and we laughed for about eight minutes without asking a single question," she shared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in 2017. Her diversified career and bold demeanor set the stage for a memoir that promises no holds barred.
