AceShowbiz - Maya Henry is currently at the receiving end of hate comments from Liam Payne's fans following his tragic passing at the age of 31. The model is blamed by social media users for the singer's unexpected death as they were involved in a legal drama prior to his demise.
After news broke of former One Direction member's death on Wednesday, October 17, fans flooded the comments of Maya's Instagram posts with messages like, "Damn girl you got your wish I guess," "Are you happy?" and "I hope you're happy now, you won." Others went as far as claiming, "LIAM PAYNE IS DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU," "It was all your fault" and "U killed Liam."
Meanwhile, there were a few who rushed to Maya's defense, with one assuring her, "ITS NOT YOUR FAULT." Another wrote, "you're such a strong beautiful intelligent woman." A third supportive fan pleaded with the trolls, "STOP THE HATE TOWARDS MAYA."
According to PEOPLE, Liam was struggling with legal issues involving his ex Maya before he fatally fell from a balcony. A source told the site on Wednesday that the British singer "was extremely overwhelmed by all of the legal issues" involving the 23-year-old model.
Last week, Maya issued a cease-and-desist order to the former One Direction member after she alleged he repeatedly contacted her, according to Daily Mail. In a TikTok video shared on October 6, Maya claimed her ex, whom she doesn't name but associates with "One Direction fans," continues to "blow up" her phone.
"It's always from different phone numbers too. I never know where it's going to come from . . . Also [he] will email me," Henry she said in the video. "Not only me, but he'll blow up my mom's phone. Is that normal behavior to you?"
"Also messaging my friends," she continued. "I found out later so they could go over to his house apparently." She further alleged that Liam "weaponized" One Direction fans against her. "He says that he 'preys on One Direction fans because they will always be loyal to him and they won't tell on him,' " she claimed.
Liam died after falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 16, PolicÃa Federal Argentina confirmed. Police are investigating the cause of death and an autopsy will be performed.
Following his passing, Maya issued a statement via her representative. "Right now, she is obviously in shock," the rep told Daily Mail.
Liam was in a romantic relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy at the time of his death. He had a son, Bear, whom he shared with his ex and former Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole.
