Kate's relaxed outing comes after Collin recalled his 'rough' childhood in a September interview, in which he claims that she made him 'a scapegoat' for her problems.

AceShowbiz - Kate Gosselin was seen in public for the first time since her son Collin Gosselin accused her of child abuse. The accusations, however, didn't seem to faze Kate as she was pictured all smiles during the outing.

In some pictures obtained by The U.S. Sun, Kate could be seen visiting a friend near her home outside Charlotte, North Carolina. Dressing casually in a lilac T-shirt and black pants, the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" alum looked beaming as she spent time with her pal.

One of the snaps featured cheery Kate bringing a tub of animal crackers. She looked in high spirits as she chatted with her friend while holding her friend's baby. A video additionally saw the former reality TV star cooing and making faces at the baby.

Kate's relaxed outing came just weeks after her son Collin recalled his "rough" childhood. In the September 10 interview with The Sun, he alleged that his mom confined and "isolated" him from his other seven siblings. He also said that his mom made him "a scapegoat" for her problems and often took "the brute end of things."

"It was rough. I definitely went through it a lot as a kid from my mother's end. So it was tough," Collin recalled. "I just remember being isolated from my siblings and constantly taking the fall for her emotions or the tough things going on in her life."

"I just remember being a scapegoat and always taking the brute end of things," he added. "I was 100% treated differently [than my siblings]. I was isolated and I was taken away from them and I didn't eat dinners with my family."

He recalled having his hands and feet zip-tied and being locked in a specially-built basement room. "My mother had a room built in our unfinished section of the storage basement," he continued. "She had a room put up with cameras in it, a tiny window in the corner and it was bolt-locked from the outside."

Collin also revealed how he felt terrified after Kate had him admitted to a mental health facility over alleged several behavioral and psychiatric conditions, which he denied having. He even shared his private medical records to prove he has no mental illnesses or behavioral conditions.

While Kate didn't respond to the claims directly, her lawyer Richard Puleo, who represented her in her last case against Jon Gosselin, denied that Kate did anything to "intentionally harm" Collin. According to the lawyer, "she did what she did to protect herself and her family" from Collin's "troubled behavior."
