This revelation came through a candid Instagram video where she lamented the continuous rejection she faced, often being told she wasn't "pretty enough" to succeed as a model.

"I love modeling, but it's hard to go somewhere and get told over, over, and over [again], ‘No, no, no, you're not pretty enough,' " Aoki shared in the video, which resonated with many of her fans. The former Harvard University graduate in international relations said the constant rejections and comparisons to her mother, Kimora Lee Simmons - famed for her work with Chanel, Fendi, Valentino, and more - was disheartening.

"It feels like one big fat comparison all the time," she admitted, explaining that people often expected her to live up to her mother's legendary career. "My mom is always going to be a way better model than me," she conceded, adding that it is "annoying to have that comparison sometimes." Despite the familial pressure, Kimora has always encouraged her daughter to "finish strong" in whatever she pursues.

Reflecting further, Aoki noted the added burden of failing to land gigs that her mother had easily secured, making her efforts feel futile. One significant example was her recent unsuccessful audition for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. "It's awful because then when you don't get it, it feels even more... [upsetting]," she admitted.

Nevertheless, Aoki is not without a plan. She revealed her aspirations to move into government work using her degree. "I'm like, getting a job in my degree field," she mentioned, as she prepares to take the foreign service test for a possible career in international relations.

While she recognizes the hard truths of the modeling world, Aoki is determined to make the most of her remaining time in the industry. "While I'm here, I'm gonna do my best!" she concluded.
