Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper in 'The Big Bang Theory', discusses his reluctance to revisit the role and his appreciation for the show's legacy.

AceShowbiz - Jim Parsons, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his role as Sheldon Cooper in "The Big Bang Theory", has no current plans to reprise the character in a reboot or reunion.

"As we sit here now, no," Parsons said in an interview with Chris Wallace on the show "Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?". "But also I never say never to anything, because life just changes so much."

Parsons explained that he holds the experience of creating "The Big Bang Theory" and portraying Sheldon Cooper as a "lightning in a bottle" moment that cannot be replicated. "It was so special as what it was and what it is," he said. "And why would we be doing it?"

Despite his reluctance to return to "The Big Bang Theory", Parsons expressed deep gratitude for the show's impact on his life and career. "It's the most insane, fortunate blessing that I could have ever asked for," he said.

Reflecting on his 12-season run on the show, Parsons admitted that he used to resent being associated solely with his iconic role. However, he has since come to embrace it as a "blessing."

"I feel pretty strongly that it's almost, if not totally, 100 percent blessing at this point," he said. "I know that I wouldn't have said that 10 years ago."

Parsons' character inspired the spin-off prequel series "Young Sheldon", which he narrated and guest-starred in. He recently appeared alongside his former co-star Mayim Bialik (who played Amy Farrah Fowler) in the series finale, which he described as a "perfect little coda" to his time with the show.

Currently, Parsons is starring in the Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town." The show has received rave reviews and is set to continue its run through the summer of 2023.
