Alec Baldwin's brother Billy explains why he supports the upcoming premiere of the controversial film 'Rust', despite the tragic on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

AceShowbiz - Billy Baldwin, 61, voiced his support for the upcoming premiere of "Rust" on Thursday night, October 3 at the premiere for his project "Americans With No Address" in Los Angeles. "I think it's great, because my understanding is, it was the wishes of the family that they could go because they wanted the public to see her last work," Billy told TMZ.
"They wanted to honor her by having her work finished and having her work seen," he added.
Production on "Rust" was halted in October 2021 after a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin, 66, discharged, killing Hutchins, who was just 42. According to Deadline, Ukrainian-born Halyna reportedly campaigned early in production to screen the film at Camerimage, a festival that honors international cinematographers.
Billy Baldwin will not be able to attend the "Rust" premiere, as he will be promoting another film in Italy. It is currently unclear whether Alec Baldwin will attend, especially since he faces an involuntary manslaughter trial in connection with Hutchins' death.
Despite the controversy surrounding "Rust", Billy Baldwin believes the premiere is a way to honor Hutchins' legacy. "My understanding is, it was the wishes of the family. They wanted the public to see her last work," Billy reiterated.
