AceShowbiz - From groundbreaking performances to record-setting wins, the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards at New York's UBS Arena had everyone talking. Hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, this year's event saw some of the biggest names in music gather to celebrate their achievements and shine on stage.
The night was undoubtedly Taylor Swift's, who, along with her "Fortnight" collaborator Post Malone, led the nominations with 12 nods. Swift walked away with seven Moon People, including coveted awards like Artist of the Year and Video of the Year, breaking Beyonce Knowles' record for the most VMA wins by capping out at 30.
Swift also made history as the first artist to win Video of the Year five times. Her domination did not stop there; "Fortnight" won Song of the Summer and Best Collaboration. Post Malone, who scored 11 nominations, ended the night with five wins, solidifying his spot as one of the ceremony's top winners.
Eminem also had a significant night, taking home two Moon People-Best Hip-Hop for "Houdini" and Best Visual Effects. Megan Thee Stallion, the event's host, claimed victories in Best Art Direction for "BOA" and Best Trending Video for "Mamushi". Emerging Afrobeat star Tyla proved her prowess by winning Best New Artist and Best Afrobeats for "Water".
Newcomer Sabrina Carpenter made waves by winning Song of the Year for her hit "Espresso", further cementing her place in the industry. Another rising star, Chappell Roan, was named Best New Artist, while Benson Boone picked up Best Alternative for "Beautiful Things."
