During an episode of "Million Dollaz Worth of Game", 50 Cent explained that his initial beef with Fat Joe stemmed from Joe's association with Murder, Inc. 50 felt that anyone affiliated with Murder, Inc. was an opponent, and Joe fit the bill.
However, after the dust settled, 50 Cent realized that he had misread the situation. In a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, he acknowledged that Fat Joe was not actually hostile towards him, but rather uncomfortable with 50's success.
"I saw him a little uncomfortable with the success I was having, and I interpreted it as, 'He doesn't like me,'" 50 said. "When he's really the kind of guy you want to be friends with because he's loyal to a default."
Fat Joe has reciprocated 50 Cent's kind words, expressing that the beef inadvertently boosted his reputation as a New York legend. He humorously compared himself to New York Suge Knight, noting that 50's attacks made people take notice.
50 Cent has also drawn parallels between his feud with Fat Joe and the current tensions between Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy. He believes that such conflicts can be resolved if both parties recognize the underlying loyalty and respect that may have been overlooked.
